Has anyone been in the last few days through Turski žleb or from Okrešelj towards Savinjsko sedlo, Mrzla gora... what are the conditions regarding snow or dry ground...

Sometimes the path takes you its own way and today it was like that. A slightly different trip around Upper Okrešelj provided a lot of beauty. First a lucky escape, as two roe deer crossed the road to Logarska at Bevške njive, still in the dark, and slightly dented the car. Luckily I slowed down, so they just bumped a bit and bounced away. Phew. Logarska was already crowded and things were happening at Okrešelj too. The sun got stronger hour by hour, but in Mrzli dol at the picnic area under Mrzla gora it was nicely fresh and off the beaten paths. Followed a warm crossing of the screes under the Rinkas to Tuska gora. Untrodden, fun. Flowers everywhere and the scent of history. Rest under the rock overhang on the path leading to Turski žleb was pleasant. Heard shouting from the gully. Listened if it was serious, but nothing, it stopped. Good. Then circumstances led to true enlightenment under Turska. Peak experience. At Okrešelj GRS members had a small work action and some people were already waiting for mass at two at the cross. Descent in the shepherd's direction provided extra variety on the path. The path in the lower part is practically destroyed by fallen trees and therefore also a bit confusing orientation-wise. After a good eight hours back at the car. Chaos in Logarska.
Okrešelj rocks!

I just got to know it. I really liked it, the hut itself and its surroundings. In front of the hut a perfect larch bonsai, inventive birdhouses, cat, birds, and so many things that caught my eye. I thought, I have to come up there again, and wondered why I delayed so long. Well, now I can be grateful that I still managed to see it as I liked it. How things renew, we'll see at Korošica.

My first companion on high mountain paths. This year it's 40 years since I was there for the first time.
The badge I bought in the hut on that first visit, I lost years later scrambling through Turski žleb.

It seems there may be a pyromaniac who, instead of going to the nearby hayrack, goes walking in the mountains.
Sadly, we have far fewer mountain huts than hayracks, and huts are much more important for people's safety. Sad

Very sad event.
I hope this time the hut insurance was better sorted.
I sincerely hope those dealing with the Korošica rebuild project and now Okrešelj too will stop dreaming of astronomical costs for new builds, but soon make something more economically viable and durable. Better a sparrow in the hand than a pigeon on the roof!
Now the state and municipalities should see the importance of these facilities for citizens and locals and contribute more to the rebuild (there are no two very important huts in the Savinja Alps).

Marko, those are empty dreams...
There'll be like on Korošica (sure, in 30-40 years) a new tourist (not alpine!), de luxe ***** outdoor destination...
But pay insurance???

A sad event, this hut was special to my heart. I'd say it's a shame regarding PZS response, Korošica is an ideal chance for a quality hut. Especially since PZS moan about hut age, energy waste.... Now they have 2 chances to shine, or slow but steady wins. I don't get why Okrešelj season closed already?!!

I feel like this story and the Korošica one won't conclude in reasonable time. It seems the whole thing stinks like the entire #slovenistan#.
Hope only for the naive now, sadly. bbugari1 probably nailed it.
Still I wish it turns out different.

Big loss for mountaineering is the hut fire site. In PD fee for 2019 mountaineers gave 1 euro for Korošica hut rebuild. Same for Okrešelj hut? PZS should watch contribution spending but nothing heard. How much collected, what done etc., are open questions. STO invests in pristine nature promo thus more foreign visitors to our mts, could add funds for this/other hut rebuilds and of course tap EU funds with progs including hut renos. Now again just talk talk talk do little.
Also question: Was hut insured for fire and how much?
