Yesterday (Wednesday) on skis along the pilgrimage path to Višarje. At the start there was hardly any snow (grass, pebbles, here and there a branch), at about 1100 m a.s.l. it got better and with altitude turned into a real winter fairy tale. Track / ski trail is of course made to the top, where there's about 70 cm snow, of which some 30 cm fresh.

Huts and the little church at the top looked like a ghost town, everything closed as the cable car isn't running yet. But snow cannons were working full power, especially upper part of the slope seems almost ready for skiing.

Descent on completely empty ski resort was combination of enjoyment on 30cm powder on slope edges, crusty and packed snow in snow cannon area and lower down ride on few cm wet fresh snow on torn base. Last 500m scraped quite a bit, so I tried to find grassy areas mainly, some 300m before end took off skis.

Despite cloudiness another nice day!

yeah, it seems to me like j. and I are going one after the other. This has happened twice recently.

On this path yesterday for the first time, of course with snowshoes. They've completely hooked me. Even just carrying them in hands I feel good nasmeh

Lots of praise on these pages for this path, even more for the views. And yesterday it was the same, beautiful views all around, though trouble identifying peaks, of course some nasmeh

, not all.
Since joy was complete, a little extension towards Stone Hunter, which turned out too far for short day, well intention was good.
On the way also admiring a woodpecker that lingered on branches in nearby tree.
Back down our own way towards Višarje pasture.

It took me great pains to figure this out: the highest Pelc above Klonice, in front of it M. Ozebnik

Lončanka, beautiful pictures so much that they aroused the desire to go to the mountains now in winter. Where is the starting point for that ascent and how long did it take you time-wise since I come from Croatia so we can plan the time. Thanks in advance for the info.

Ločanka, you're phenomenal, so many hills and mountains you hike, I always follow your "posts" and enjoy the nice photos. What I like most is that you know the mountains around you and describe them nicely, so we who aren't familiar with some areas know which peak is revealed before our eyes in the photo. Keep it up. It's quite hard to choose photos for posting, there are so many nice ones.
Names of mountains around me are as important to me as the hike itself. If I don't figure something out at the top, I have to finish it at home, otherwise the hike isn't complete. Sometimes I ponder long what was there, but can't identify.
I also miss it in others' posts if there are no mountain names on photos, especially lesser known ones.

gigi6, there's always something to spark desire for a trip. If it was my photos, my goal achieved.

But now mostly ascending on skis, snowshoes, crampons, or even without aids. Few of those on Sunday.

Sunday, 8.7.... pilgrimage path as always steep, probably more battered from winter. Lots of visitors at Višarje, you can tell the gondola is running. Nice at top, if views good even better. nasmeh

On 8.7 the two of us finally visited Sv. Višarje too and, on father's recommendation, climbed to Stone Hunter. The path is nice, picturesque, full of alpine flowers. The section with cables is short, but due to many visitors and piled stones a helmet is really recommended here. The summit offers, in weather like last Sunday, beautiful views of numerous peaks. You just stare and rejoice, and see new paths...

For luck in the mountains and on life's paths, one must ring the bell.

Sv. Višarje, it is beautiful here. Mass in three languages for pilgrims inwardly fills and enriches a person.

Bearded bellflowers, there are many on the path from the chapel to the higher part.

Pot-bellied bellflowers adorn the high, mighty wall in front of the church.

The view of Mangart and Jalovec most attracted my eyes.

Joy, because the mountains are my world.

Today to Višarje via pilgrimage path. Ideal conditions for ascent and of course we weren't the only ones choosing this path. But no crowds. At top huts were packed full, we didn't stop. Down we skied straight on ski slope. Always super tour for start, and also later.

Happy that we still found a parking spot at 10:30, because it was full everywhere.

Well, let's go, there is a new variant for the ascent.

Really ideal conditions, the snow couldn't be better.

Going nicely, but we were relatively quickly back at the car given the length of the ascent.

Today we moved to the winter landscape. Dressed in white, we first struggled a bit to waddle up the pilgrimage path to the top of Višarje, enjoyed wonderful views of nearby and distant peaks.... Hot tea of course was not available, everything closed, even the church. A nice surprise was waiting on the descent... Finally some relief.... All three of us breathed deeply....

We quickly ascended to the Višarska plateau.

Yesterday we started our hike to Višarje at farm tourism Ojcinger. A bit higher we stepped on the service road and nicely in a line to the top. Here without snowshoes nothing would be done, even with them up to 20cm deep. We descended via the pilgrimage path, which is already so trodden we needed no aids.
