On this map Čohavnica is even above the marked path to Korošica

It's like that on other maps too. This is supposed to be an abandoned pasture. Here it is mentioned as a gully.

Quite possible it's a former pasture, since left of the marked path up to Vršiči it's still nicely bare. More likely than it being the Čohavnica gully. Otherwise the question which Čohavnica, since you cross several on the path from Vratca to Presedljaj.

Maybe the whole area sloping down to Šibje with all passes, gullies and paths. Between Stari Stali and Presedljaj under Vršiči and Vežica.

From Tone Cevc's book - Ancient traces of man in the Kamnik Alps, Planina Čohavnica (1800m), p. 46
Abandoned planina Čohavnica (between 1800-1900m) lies along the former provincial border between Carniola and Styria, which runs along Ojstrica, over Lučki Dedec and Vežica to Presedljaj and then over Konj towards Velika Planina.
Čohavnica is reachable by hiking trails from Kamniška Bistrica along the Kamniška Bela valley over Presedljaj (1610m) or from the Lučka Bela valley past Žegnani studenec and planinas Šibje (1210m) and Stara stala (1655m) and Čez Prag.
The planina spreads on a plain above the natural forest border and its location suggests possible early settlement of the planina. Above the planina is the extensive dwarf pine world of Vežica.
The field name Čohavnica is a charming linguistic monument with unexplained origin, certainly of very respectable age. Perhaps the planina name can be linked to *čoha*, which means in dialect and also in Baltic languages - *young cow* (Bezljaj 1976, 85). Therefore we might conclude that young cattle were pastured here, after which the planina got its name....
....With finds Čohavnica ranks among the highest archaeological sites in Slovenia.

Today I was a bit bored and since you teased me with that Prag, I went to check it out. That map from Pastirica with drawn traces I burned into my brain already Friday. Parked on some grassy forest road towards the gully and started along it. Soon road ended and descent into gully to some pools. Other side of gully quickly spot pathlet. For a while nicely traceable, but not long, what can ya do. Went straight up slope, sooner or later hit path higher and yes. That path crossed ravine and lost in dense bushes overgrowing cut. Pushing through bushes see saltlick carved in stump, above looks like path, soon confirmed by bootprint in fallen tree. Soon on better visible path, follow it traversing long left over couple ravines under overhangs. Path lost several times, need eyes peeled. Reach plateau edge way more southeast of Prag (blue line on Pastirica map). From there on easier traceable paths to gravel road to Pl. Dol. At left bend before road descends to planina go straight down gully to first meadow at Prag. Here starts raining, I search further first cart track then edge. After good 100m along edge cairn shows return to valley. Path soon in worst part spiced with fallen trees, and soaked. Continue down, path is no path, bit direct down gully hoping no drop, pouring like from bucket and hit path traversing nicely to start. At passage with chain, due wetness damn useful. From here not much to car. Road also very good condition. No mushrooms except one.

So no more talk of boredom, eh? Passages (paths) there quite abandoned, time does its thing. Wasn't easy for you, especially in wet. Congrats! On such explorations I usually bring old titanium ice axe too. Can come in handy .

Yes really, boredom gone quick. Really enjoyed. Some tool at couple spots would really help, agree.

The road closure is between 7:00 and 18:00, but on Sunday it seems they don't work.

Since picnics are not my thing, I turned towards Kamniška Bistrica in the morning. I look at the peaks and stare at the shaggiest one, Rzenik. Routinely along the Martinj path, then along the forest path towards the ridge and from the end of the path directly upwards. When I emerge from the beech forest, full of good mood, I sit on a suitable spot and have a little snack. Then onwards. First I zigzag nicely between the trees and sparse dwarf pines, then suddenly it gets thick. The fight with the bushes almost wouldn't end, but with some scratches after two hours of battling I reach the path strewn with raspberries. I continue to the summit, from there along the marked path down to the valley. Nice day, nice views and good mood, that's what counts.

Forum nice again. With bro on super tour. Under seven hours. Nice passages, time flies too quick. Road over Podvolovjek from Luč direction partly repaired already, daytime works and passability worse. If before seven in the morning, no one there. We nailed the loop to zero, no sausage Not to spoil off-trail soul expectations too much - watch out for the gnome with pink reception safe on paths! Cheers, Andrej

Andi2, if I understood correctly you went from Šibje first to Presedljaj and Kopo, and then via Prag to Žegnani studenec? What kind of fight is it from Šibje to Presedljaj, someone told me it's nicely traceable in the lower part, only up there just below the saddle it's quite overgrown. Otherwise nice tour, I've been eyeing it for a while. lp

Congratulations for the completed route and thanks for the post, I'll gladly go to the terrain! I see the junction is quite high up the marked path. There at that overgrown clearing? Lp

Right Matjaž for the first part. Over Prag we returned via the pink path (Pastirica), which I walked last time (descent to the clearing and past the spring back). Zoki - right. Junction is right at the end of the dry streambed on the flat, as Pastirica already wrote (spruce on her pic). For the path to Presedljaj I won't explain too much, because you'll be negatively surprised that all side branches and directions in between are better marked than on many marked paths. About five times in between you learn you're on the hunting path , and once very precisely that the shortcut goes right to Vodotočnik. Yeah, some are marking masters Well, at least it's nicely trimmed, if someone doesn't like brawling with brushwood. lp

The markings will fade over time like those from Žagana peč to Kalce, and over Najnar štant, over Hudi konec and probably more can be found. Few of these wild markings survive longer. Otherwise congrats for the tour. Kopa really isn't entirely easy. This was one of the rare tours when my doggy stayed home.

Thanks! Also to you for valuable info with just enough hints to enjoy to the full! We also looked at Kr. Dedec and unanimously decided that if he's already so repulsive to the opposite sex, then two guys he certainly won't swallow through the green barrier May it come true regarding the markings. In the upper part someone literally emptied the spray.

Pity you didn't go check Dedec. A bit before the safety gear starts on the path to Konj, there used to be a clearing towards Dedec about halfway. Maybe the new tenants of Bržić have extended it to the end .
