Come on please, no more nonsense that more of you - percentage-wise - think Drava originates in Austria, our beautiful river Drava,... we don't know where it originates, if you'd just looked anywhere, you'd find the correct answer, Italy. Sorry site moderator, but my fingers itched here. Regards! ps - in future I'll be quiet.

Drava springs right on the border between A. and I. I myself drove past, but honestly, if e.g. border crossings still functioned, I'd remember better on which side the source is. But I think it's not so important, conscious Austrians would claim anyway it's in Austria, we know why.., or that after war allies (wrongly) assigned South Tyrol to Italy.,,..etc,etc. Question in poll is thus quite in place, a bit to refresh memory anyway.

Šerpa - I mean regarding the poll.

I think the point of such polls is to check people's general knowledge, not that everyone opens dictionaries,... otherwise it wouldn't make sense to ask. If you think you know, answer, if you have no idea, leave it, or help yourself a bit to see results and know for next time. Regards, Jaša PS. picture a bit serious, a bit for fun...

From this picture it's poorly visible where Drava originates, but quite well visible how far Slovenia once extended to the south

Yes, maybe it would really be better to check the quality of the published maps - then both types of geographical terms would be much clearer.

My God, ... a person innocently writes something, and always a bunch of comments pour in that actually have no connection to the beginning of the story anymore. Regards!

The fact is that in history our Kura has slimmed down considerably, especially in the throat, belly and legs, to the south.

The map of the Slovene Land and regions, issued in 1853 by Slovenian geographer, lawyer and politician Peter Kozler was a pretty good choice for the start. Look at it yourselves, you know how to google.

davor59 - not to provoke any nationalist or similar sentiments, but I must warn you that a very similar map was also issued by your "Nakladni zavod Hrvatske" in 1947. If you want, you can see it at the link below under point 6. Border on the Mirna river - click

1.11.2010 Sorry for the expression, I don't give a damn whether the border is here or there. The whole current situation is ridiculous to me because I cross borders without paying much attention to them whenever I can (free time, money etc. are factors that significantly influence that). Of the areas I know, Slovenia and its mountains are among my favorites. More ridiculous than the Slovenian-Croatian border issue are only those two clowns, woman-man, Croatian-Slovenian couple who solve these problems today holding hands a bit in Bled, then a bit in Opatija etc... It doesn't occur to me to google any maps - I already have the maps I need and as far as I'm concerned the map can look however you want.

OK. Don't get mad. Your sea is the most beautiful to me too. I suggest we stick to the topic i.e. Drava and leave other borders alone.

I agree. Borders are in heads anyway. Better ask where Krka originates. a) in Slovenia b) in Austria c) in Croatia

Drava originates near the town of San Candido in Italy (8 km from the Austrian border).

@ jprim "Madonna, ... a person writes something so innocently, and a bunch of comments always pour in that actually have no more connection to the start of the story. LP!" This is another proof that you ladies always stir up shit (this time even international), then you back out saying you're innocent and didn't mean anything like that... And, jprim, this isn't the first time with your posts! Someone could mock your (non)knowledge sometimes too. But it hasn't yet, as far as I know. Suggestion: pssst. If it works, of course.

atoamac: Answer 1= in Slovenia, near Ljubljana Answer 2= in Croatia, near Knin And both answers are correct.

sherpa But do you have a feeling that I'm mocking someone, I'm a bit surprised, that's not my character, unless you think so, then try to convince me,... at your writing I can only laugh,
