It's incredible how many animal names. This was an exhaustive report. The riddle was probably never fully solved. One learns throughout one's life anyway, so I already look forward to the new riddle.

I still owe the list of those 14 animals after which the most peaks in Slovenia and closest surroundings are named: Fox 8 Owl 8 Bird 8 Mouse 9 Sheep 10 Cat 11 Wolf 12 Rooster 13 Eagle 13 Mare 18 Deer 20 Goat 22 Horse 23 Bear 26 Congratulations to all for correct answers.

I quickly skimmed through this list of names and would like to add my little peep I'd like to emphasize the difference between "naming after something, i.e. the origin of the name" and "similarity in naming". Concluding that some hill/mountain/peak/... is named after a certain animal just based on name similarity is quite naive... For example, Svinjak is not named after a pig, as people generally believe, but the name Svinjak comes from Svitnjak, and the latter arose from the observation that in the morning at sunrise the peak shines among the first... Just for thought, for a precise analysis one needs to consult some etymological dictionary.

lesnik I agree, not everything is at face value, especially not in Slovenian. The previously mentioned Kurešček has nothing to do with a hen either, hm , but with a hearth...

An interesting debate has started to develop. If you want, you can continue it. Nevertheless, I would pose a new riddle, maybe for later. But let's stay with animals for now. Specifically: in the TNP area three mammal species have been settled. The first naturally went extinct in the Slovenia area during the ice ages, the second was exterminated here by humans in the 17th century, the third species never lived in the TNP area. Which three mammals are these?

You're right Igor. You're still very young or you have elementary school kids at home, to remember the whole grade. If you're up for it, pose a riddle to me, a bit tougher nut to crack, to make it exciting.

thanks for the compliment, at 47 I really feel quite youthful, daughter is already a graduate. I won't pose riddles, but I want to say that the hribi.net forum regarding descriptions and conditions, and also photo material is at a fairly high level and accordingly useful. Unfortunately some people put it at a fairly low level by opening various pointless topics that have little in common with mountains and conditions, which it doesn't deserve. Sometimes I miss the active role of the administrator.

As far as I know the administrator only deletes insults or offensive and extremely inappropriate posts and incorrectly titled topics...

There are topics.. that don't have much in common with mountains and conditions and represent a fairly low level that it doesn't deserve.. And what is "known" to you hribovc? Something that's not true, from what Igor wrote, and which I just confirmed? And probably I'm not the only one who can confirm this, right, Slovenians??

"Sometimes I miss the active role of administrator" = miss CENSORSHIP? In the section that started with the question where Drava originates? Hello! If that doesn't show current conditions e.g. on Hill X, which has its own description and even its own forum, then it shows that hut visitors, in the evening, in rain and generally bad weather, are interested in something else. Even such harmless chat. Don't worry, I'll look at your new descriptions and wonderful pictures you attach with interest too. But wanting riddles is "quite a low level it doesn't deserve", right, Slovenians??

I also think that topics like: Poll, Introduce yourself, Riddle don't belong in the conditions forum. I think such topics are opened for more visits to the website.

And also personal matters like: which month which one is, how young some guy still is, how many old children he has and who he wants to privately arrange to go to the mountains with - belongs at most in ZS!

Yes, but the topic is opened in the forum/category General discussions; in the description of that category it says that "All debates that don't belong elsewhere" go there. Current conditions are described in other forums/categories, so I don't find this topic controversial?

Rok, why didn't you publish my reply, since this debate developed also because of me. Or is censorship already working or maybe there was a transfer error. In that case I'll write again. Best regards.

@ tisa Replies in the "current conditions - forum" section are published automatically and there is no prior censorship. If you wrote a message and it wasn't published on the website, most likely there was a connection interruption to the server, or some other error. Regards, Tadej

What does level mean? Can someone more professionally answer the question? Maybe heinz and Igor. Each of us has his own level of expression, intelligence, behavior and attitude towards fellow man. But for some only their level is right. Let people breathe, just like we breathe on the top of peaks, surrounded by animals, flowers, streams, rivers and forest that also breathes and unselfishly gives us energy to overcome troubles in the valley. And why not debate things that are part of this wonderful nature. True, our reactions on top of mountains are completely different. There we are relaxed, happy, smiling and well-meaning. Why some can't bring that home, since "batteries" are surely still full. Everyone is a world unto himself, let's be patient with each other, not sow negative energy, which is already enough everywhere. I admit it's my big mistake that sometimes I react too quickly to something, wrongly, but never maliciously, and when someone reminds or scolds me, I'm so self-critical that I admit it and then I'm very ashamed. I don't know why it's so hard to admit a slip-up, since to err is human. We are all just on a short visit to this beloved earth of ours. Why not as visitors rejoice, love, help each other and try to understand the other. Both desires and needs as well as mistakes, which we can of course criticize, but not insult at the same time. Then we'll feel much better and live easier. Best regards and all the best.
