Today I was walking on the summits above Soriska planina and Porezen looked bare. Maybe there's still some snow in the forest. The hut is open on Sundays in good weather. But I don't know about holidays.

I was there yesterday from Zakojca. From the Primorska side it's completely bare, towards Petrov breg even from the top no snow was visible, maybe still somewhere in the forest.

We were on Porezen from Davča on Monday... fantastic weather... hot! Hut open. On the way back also to Bolnica Franji. Nicely renovated. Unfortunately very few old things. But real praise to all who renovated it.

Today on Porezen. Fantastic views after yesterday's rain. Not many hikers, so I stay longer on the top. Enjoying the view, taking photos, sitting in the sun, upon leaving I realize someone took my hiking poles that were placed by the bench on top. Disappointed with people and angry at the same time, I go to the hut and at the counter I spot my poles. The warden explains that someone brought the poles to the hut that were forgotten on top Greeting to the hiker who kindly picked up my poles.

It's been a long time since the last post on Porezen topic. Besides cows and horses, the culinary offer convinced us too. The visit was quite large. Shame that in winter months, when we are on Porezen with skis, the hut is not open so we could eat something before descent. More photos at http://bojana-in-jure.2freedom.com/

What about the bear that's supposedly scaring around there?

Hm... I did hear at the hut some people talking (joking???) about it, but I wouldn't know much about it, anyway we didn't spot any on the way =).

Very nice pictures Daniyel. About the bear I read in Slovenske novice, apparently quite bloodthirsty. Probably weren't joking in the hut. Otherwise most bears avoid humans anyway.

Apparently rummaging around, the bear of course , near these stables full of horses. At least that's what I heard....

Yeah the bear thing's no joke. Today saw on TV it's already killed a cow on Petrovo Brdo, now it'll soon be on Soriški Planina, so no messing around, it's a real beast just hope it gets scared off elsewhere

That's why imo advisable to go in groups. There were quite some people on the way, so imo the noise scares the bear too... Bear travels several tens of km a day, plenty of space around here. PS: where are the hunters?

Dear Danyel. Hunters are in the right place but our state dawdles until it issues the cull order. Until the bear threatens people nothing happens but here something really bad must occur for anyone to stir, whether people or animals...

Joži While reading your articles, I couldn't rest without writing a few words on the topic of the bear on Porezen. I'm a local and go to Porezen in all seasons and on all paths, even unmarked, same my friends and other locals. Know that bears have been in the area for a long time; as a child, the bear shook pears on high-lying farms (almost 50 years now) and I was scared to leave the house. We must know that bears will increasingly haunt areas like Cerkno and Škofja Loka hills, overgrown with forests and remote. Few people have seen a bear, none this year, previous years more encounters on Cerkno with bears and lots of fear. The bear retreats, especially if in a group and talking. My relatives met a bear years ago on the path from Bača top to Črna prst, very scared, bear fled aside. True this year big havoc on pastures, but happens everywhere, takes survival food from nature. Can add saw many bears on Kamchatka, camped in wilderness, guides threw firecrackers before night - that smoke drives them away, when up in morning bears fishing salmon on other river side.

Yesterday's afternoon dedicated to visiting Porezen. First time standing on this beautiful summit , really a bit ashamed to admit. Decided for direction Davča-chapel, where we left the car. In sunny heat, the path leading through dense forest is surely pleasant, so you rejoice when stepping out of the forest onto vast pastures, where the sun embraces you again. The path leads us to an abandoned hut, for which I am really sorry that it stands there in such a decaying state . A bit further we ran into a herd of horses grazing in this peaceful afternoon. They are not afraid at all, curiously come to look at you and greet . It was quite hard for me to part from them, but we have to go on . Ascending along the scenic ridge path, which in clear weather offers wonderful views, but even now they seem wonderful to me. Soon we reach the summit, from which you get a nice view also on Lower Bohinj Mountains. From the summit towards home, but in between we detour to the abandoned tunnels to explore a bit. It was worth it . Views through slits at the end of the tunnel are really a true experience. So, now home for deserved tea and delicious apple strudel. Even afternoon can be wonderful.

Today on the path from Petrov Brdo to the top of Porezen there was no crowd at all. It has been a long time since I met really no one (at least on marked paths) up and down. I didn't notice a bear either . Quick jaunt if no time for more or if weather worsening is expected. Well, then one more soul appeared, and one mountain biker... Strudel in the hut was finger-licking good.
