Proverbially excellent viewpoint failed today due to fog.jezen
On the north path still quite some snow that sinks considerably and causes wetness in shoes.velik nasmeh

Today family-friendly hike from Jezersko vrh to Pristovški Storžič. Conditions good, path almost entirely dry, except some snow patches in summit area, which pose no problems. Perhaps a bit more caution only in section under the cable, where rocks were quite slippery today.

Today we headed to this summit. There was high cloud cover, so we could see surrounding mountains well. Path completely snow-free, but by temperatures you still feel it's winter at this altitude ... brr... When we got back to the cars, it cleared nicely and so we caught the view of the summit shining in the sun nasmeh Some pics from this path:

Yesterday, on holiday Monday, visit to Pristovški Storžič, which offers really nice views. Path without peculiarities, no traces of snow and ice.

I too visited Pristovški (Carinthian) Storžič yesterday. Up via Krainerjeva, down the other side to Pastirkov vrh and back to Jezerski vrh. Weather very nice, light wind at the summit and nice view, quite some visitors. Conditions - bare and dry.

A few more from yesterday. Clouds somewhat spoiled the views, but still ... I was surprised how much forest has disappeared compared to 2013, when I was last up there. Austrian bark beetles are active too.

Not directly related to the mountain, but I'll ask anyway - is there any hut or inn on the path or nearby, maybe at the start, where one could eat? If not, maybe some recommendation for Jezersko?

Going with kids, so need to study this part in advance too.

Next to Planšarsko Lake at Jezersko, you can eat well and it's on the path to Pristovski Storžič. Don't forget personal IDs, otherwise Austrians won't let you through.

Nice for kids at Planšarsko Lake. A walk around the lake, say, then to the inn:

Along the road there's this, before that maybe a walk to the nearby church and a bit higher where there are nice views:

Up at the saddle on the border, already in Austria this:

From Jezerski vrh we crossed the border and climbed Pristovski Storžič via the Krajner path. Demanding path without special features and well marked. Descent was via longer easy path over Pastirkovo sedlo. Most of the path on forest roads. Still some snow patches here. All paths well marked.
Towards the summit lots of auriculas and other flowers, views reached as far as Krn.

On a holiday we went to the always beautiful Jezersko - this time to Jezerski vrh, where the parking lot was crowded and we had already resigned ourselves to more visitors on the summit.
But it wasn't like that - only a few hikers were really enjoying themselves on the summit, and we met almost no one on the path. Harder up, easier down, both well marked and wonderful, now full of raspberries along the path. velik nasmeh
A little effort to the top, and be careful on the descent, the rocks are quite slippery. Summit view really vast, yay! In short, wonderful hike, great for the soul and highly recommended!
To replenish the lost minerals, also some Jezersko slatina along the way - now we finally know where to get it. mežikanje

In the afternoon, checked for mushrooms on the path to Pristovski Storžič. Barely got a couple, trampled everywhere by pickers. Up the north side, down the south side.

Has anyone been to Pristovski Storžič in the last days? Snow? Ice? Possible with small crampons up the harder path and back the easier?

Hello, conditions as of 4.1. The initial part of the path from Jezerski vrh along the road is not problematic. Then, when the path turns into the forest, I recommend crampons to the top. Similar on the AU side.

On Monday (15.2.), the first day without movement restrictions to municipalities and regions anymore, we went to Pristovski Storžič. Starting point - border saddle Jezerski vrh. Ascent along Krainer path, which was trodden (the hint we received that winter gear is mandatory, even though it's practically mid-mountain, proved accurate). Views impeccable. We descended the easier path - no tracks from the summit, we followed a faint trace of ski tourer turns to the forest. Lower down we picked up the pedestrians' track and descended back to the starting point on it. Perfect day. Exactly such a winter fairy-tale tour I wanted before the announced thaw. nasmeh
We're going up that one...1
When we got close to the wall, we spotted him, but he spotted us too... :-)2
Above the snow-covered crowns of spruces and larches, the first views appear...3
The higher we go, the more snow there is...4
...and the track is getting deeper... but good that it is... :-)5
In a snowy embrace...6
Straight up here...7
The steep and unconsolidated track take energy, but in such beauty nothing is hard... :-)8
Summit slope...9
Behind us Storžič...10
Summit in view...11
The summit is an exceptional viewpoint...12
Košuta ridge closer...13
Towards Obirje...14
The entire garland of the highest in KSA15
Peca, Olševa, Raduha...16
On the descent we slide a bit our own way through the deep snow... yippee... :-)17
At Kepp saddle we briefly stop and once more look at the Košuta ridge...18
Some more nice views came during the descent...19
...before we finally sank into the cold winter forest...20
Days are lengthening... hooray... :-) ...and when we were almost back at the car, the peak was still sunlit... :-)21
