Rombon

Yesterday on Rombon from Kluž, despite great weather, not too much of a crowd. I think this peak is somewhat neglected, although unjustly (views divine) and the path itself is extremely interesting, remains of Soča front trenches, tunnel, labyrinth... It can be dog-hot in summer, of course, if not early enough and needs quite some fluids. Lpnasmeh

Here, some more of my pics from 1.10., when I went via Kanin to Rombon and via Čukla to Bovec.
Svinjak, where I was in mid-September1
Prestreljenik... this one is still waiting for me too... next year :-))2
already the Italian side of Kanin3
reminder of WWI... there will be many more on the way4
that day Prestreljenik was quite a crowded spot.... I understand why :-)5
wonderful view and cloudless sky6
even Triglav was visible in this wonderful, really ideal weather7
nice view8
view of Bovec and the emerald river9
Prestreljenik is always watching over us10

the path is full of typical karst brezes12
to the right Rombon awaits me, straight ahead Slovenian pride-Triglav13

interestingly shaped rocks15
...snow still defies the heat and summer temperatures...actually the only one I saw on this path16
some edelweiss were also to be seen17
...much still awaits me....18
....priceless....19
This awaits us at the top of Rombon20
what can I say..... craaaaaazy :-))21
here it is....Triglav (strongly zoomed image)22

view of Log pod Mangartom and of course the king above it24
view back, we towards Čukla25
we also met some chamois grazing on steep grassy slope26
chamois, the only living beings we met on the path to Čukla27
I step into this short tunnel...feel anxiety and strange feeling...not pleasant28
who was hiding here29
there are quite a few forts and tunnels in this area30
there are plenty of tunnels and various remains here, not to mention how many wire remains there are here31
summit of Čukla, behind Rombon32
under Čukla there are rows of fortress remains....33

Katty, that it's Bovški Gamsovec on the 31st photo won't hold.

Wow, that was super weather... sklešk, on the last (44th) mentioned Gamsovc.. True, it's not there either. But is it, by the shape, Krn?

No, now you can see how little I know the mountains in this part of Sloeek. I already have some plans for next year to get to know them more thoroughlynasmeh.

Yes, and the two-thousanders Lopatnik, Skutnik and Srednji vrh as well as Vogel, which lacks 20 meters to join the chosen ones. I covered those ends last year on 1.9., when they renovated the Gomišček shelter. The weather was fantastic then too.

miranm, my husband and I climbed those ladders already twice two years ago. They are in pretty bad shape, some pegs are loose, some have been carried away by the tooth of timemrk pogled

At those "lojtrcah" I got an association with Russian roulette, some have already crumbled, some sway supposedly, so I wasn't tempted at all to climb up them. zavijanje z očmi

No peg has crumbled though, some are really missing. There was an idea years ago to renovate the mentioned path (like historical ferratas or short training ferrata), it was cleaned last year, it has special status as it is under fortress Kluže. Pegs quite awkward, stick out far from rock, need shortening and cable beside for self-belay. Maybe somedayzavijanje z očmi.

Igor, that would be great, but probably ends with debate on finances or some cultural heritage or similar! Still, fingers crossed! nasmeh

Finally this beautiful peak came up. With wife up from Kluž, back to Bc i.e. Bovec. Exceptional views, summit snow just a trace.
During the ascent from Kluž, Jerebica accompanied us in the morning sun.1
First view towards Mangart.2
View from 1313 towards Bovška kotlina, where it was nicely white from the morning hoarfrost.3
Krn and friends.4
One always marvels anew at what the soldiers accomplished with the equipment of that time...5
View towards Kanin.6
And also towards Triglav....7
From Jalovec ....to Kanjavec.8
From Montaž to Viš. In between Koštrunove špice, where we stood recently. Very nice part of the Julians!9
Staticians would despair, but part of the wall still stands. Soon it will be 100 years since then.10
From Čukla to Matajur11
Bovec.12
Bovec is nicely arranged, especially the neat benches catch the eye. The latter is along the walking path (cycling path) from Bovec towards Kluže.13
And we are back at the start again, this time in the evening.14
For goodbye, one more view towards Špik, Oltarji... Yes, it was a beautiful day. Otherwise good five hours driving and 9 hours gross walking, but beauty and peace outweigh everything.15

Maybe someone (Igor, doripiki...) knows where exactly the above-mentioned "ferratka" leads. Shortcut to Herman? What was it for? Yes, only now it catches the eye when so nicely cleaned.
Otherwise, my wife and I were enthusiastic about much more; nicely arranged Bovec, path signs, original benches, bitter history that the Peace Trail makes meaningful in a completely new way, friendly locals, with whose help we found the unpaved path back to Kluž.... We highly recommend!

Those ferratas lead all the way to the top, I don't dare say they are old military paths to the battlefield on Rombon, but definitely interesting mountain and cruel history, whose consequences are in the valley under Mangart, today I was in Kluže and the day was sunny and nice, nasmeh

It's a shortcut from the lower to the upper fortress, I don't know when this iron path was made, probably already before WWI.
