mountain lover Can you tell us "Who is this someone?"? Don't believe everyone in a row. Every country pays for and maintains its own mountain rescue service. Helicopters operate on the principle of issuing bills to the injured for rescue. For the injured who have insurance paid through various clubs for rescue in mountains, ski slopes, climbing crags,.. the insurance pays. All others receive the bill!! There it's not like here, that the state would pay them anything. Court proceedings against individuals, for whom they think have caused the matter for whatever reason, are not rare. This winter in neighboring Austria they prosecuted quite a few backcountry skiers and also a mountain guide. In Italy our skiers due to triggering an avalanche on Višarje. Sadly in cruel capitalism the devil took the joke long ago.

Matej This Javoršek of yours writes unverified stuff, so every comment is superfluous. I recommend you get the data on membership fees and accident insurance from reliable sources yourselves and then decide.

and the other part from PZS: In case of rescue the injured receives afterwards at home a bill, which he pays and submits a claim for reimbursement to the insurance company. PZS insurance includes rescue until arrival at the hospital. Hospital treatment abroad however is already covered by mandatory health insurance or the blue European health card.

mountain lover Well, slowly we'll get to the end. Hospital treatment abroad however is already covered by mandatory health insurance or with the blue European health card. Check the ZZZS website and you'll see that their blue card is really only for emergency care. For more there is Coris and similar insurances. What they cover you can read on their website. Recently there was a full-page article in DELO with advice on all insurances abroad. There is more than enough data for reflection and decision.

Of course I see that in this thread you're talking more about other things, I still decided to write my question here, since it seems to me it touches on the topic of safety in the mountains. I didn't want to open a new thread, but someone can move it... They forecast nice weather for the weekend. And of course I'm already thinking about the hills, mountains. But wondering where to go. I want to take my partner somewhere where he could also try "climbing". We both have gear, but not for snow. Condition-wise we're both well prepared, but still I'd like the total walking to be max 5-6 hours. Partner was on Triglav (from Kredarica and Planika), so that's the most experience he has with climbing. But he didn't have self-protection gear then. Now we're looking for a route where we could go together so he gets some experience with clipping and such. So I'm interested if anyone has a suggestion where we can go - not too demanding route but still a bit adrenaline-packed and preferably without snow (at least passable without crampons and ice axe).

Konj, Peca, maybe also Storžič through Žrelo. Or of course some ferrata (Gradiška tour, Glinščica etc.).

Climbing on Peca or climbing on Raduha.

Old Ljubelj, past Povna peč, along the ridge of Ljubeljščica to Zelenica.

Hmmm, no more snow on Storžič and in Žrelo? I thought of it myself but just the thought of snow deterred me from the idea. Gradiška tour looks nice, Glinščica I couldn't find at all - is that a peak name or what? We were on Raduha last year, didn't even need gear, Peca sounds nice too but a bit too much driving for me. We'll almost certainly visit it sooner or later. #tinky I searched the site for the route you describe but can't find it. Can you help with some link or similar?

Aha, thanks tinky, I found it. But I'm a bit worried it's an unmarked trail, as the description says. I wouldn't want to get lost anywhere, since I don't know the path. I'll see if anyone else has a suggestion

Storžič - first hand I don't know, or at least not quite fresh info, second hand though - http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=3&id=725 Looks ok. Glinščica is valley next to Trst, where you also have some ferratas. Hard to find if you haven't been there before. If you get the right Tabacco map, it'll be fine.

Can't miss it, just along the ridge. Can also check current conditions, Karavanke p. 4.

http://www.pzs.si/vsebina.php?pid=79 Option to take out additional insurance for worldwide rescue for other PZS members PZS members without paid A+ membership can extend their insurance coverage for rescue abroad and ensure the same conditions as A+ members (worldwide coverage, higher coverage limits, extension to family members). Premium is 6.10 €.

@Tatana, Strožič via Žrelo is a great variant, last Friday I had a little self-belay school there. No snow, iron condition is OK. And faces north, good for hot days

#eftomi thanks for info Just planning for Sunday to go somewhere. But now after reading dunno how many comments thinking if still too few belay points for self-belay on Strožič through Žrelo. Both have some experience, partner not with self-belay but still. Thinking some more demanding variant, haven't figured where. Still open for suggestions

Nice climbing route with the right amount of iron also from Turska gora to Kamniško sedlo (via Žlebiče) and more varied than Žrelo (not just up but zigzags interestingly). Not a climber though, surely many other pure climbing routes, let others say And I wish safe steps.
