I snapped this on the path through Rakov Škocjan.
Interesting - there used to be a small village around the church.1
Only the ruins of St. Canzian's church remain.2

Nowhere is it written that in this topic we are limited exclusively to Slovenian territory, but it's close anyway. So, in the "attic" some material was found from the "assault" on Sabotin a year or so ago. If we walk the ridge path right where the state border runs, we can spot a cross a meter from the path on the Italian side. Schengen still applied without doubt then, so we can step closer and see it's a chapel or niche without a statue. I'm really curious if this is some official part of the "zona sacra" (some equivalent of our NOB memorial parks), which Italians maintained during the wars across the entire Sabotin area in honor of that famous 6th offensive when they took Sabotin and thus Gorizia. Or did someone put it up privately in honor of some fallen relative?

While we're on Sabotin, another chapel was spotted at one of the last road bends that leads from the valley somewhere to the "hut" (former JNA border post) on Sabotin.

I took this yesterday on a tour to Melika Medveja. Start was in Sežana where we also returned. If possible and I see them I photograph all sacral objects on the way -crosses, chapels, churches. This time there weren't many. But in Sežana I could look into their church.
Church of St. Martin in Sežana.1
On the Karst and in these coastal areas the bell tower is often next to the church - it was also the case here.2
In larger places churches are mainly unlocked and if possible I view them.3
It has three altars and two side altars. The main one is dedicated of course to St. Martin.4
The side altars are also beautiful.5

Baptismal font. Usually I also glance at the Stations of the Cross, but it seems I overlooked it this time.8

A bit below the summit of Križna gora above Podkraj there is, as the name suggests, a nicely forged cross. Since it's above a very steep (and scenic) slope, it could only be photographed from the side. Under the cross it's also possible to "stamp".

Križna gora is usually combined with neighboring Sveti Duh, where, again judging by the name, we can expect a small church of the Holy Spirit, which is currently being renovated, next to it there are quite a few benches and of course a new logbook. It's located a bit below the summit, but options for finding the best photo spots are somewhat limited. Visitors also have the option to ring the bell.

If we set off from Planina towards Grmada or other goals on Planinska gora, especially on the section between the Rapallo border marker and the junction from Lepena it's a real "God's path" with crucifixes and statues of various saints, at the crossroads there's a newer crucifix with a nicely forged cross. A bit further towards the Marija church we can spot some "nativity" figures in a hollow of a fallen tree.

Yesterday I did a tour to Sv. Pavel and was lucky that they were just repairing the roof and I could peek inside the little church. Then we continued to the church of Sv. Peter.
We reached the church via this path from the other side.1

This can be seen in the village Juršče -it's a small village near Knežak -it's the Pivka valley.
