Has anyone been to Skuta in the last few days?

On the map I see all paths around Skuta are open, but I haven't seen any post that someone has already gone up.

Plan is via Ledine to Rinke, Skuta and back towards Cojzova koča.

On 21.8. I went to Rinke via Ledine. The path was renovated last year and is without issues, cables and pegs are in good condition. On maPZS the paths around Skuta are open nasmeh

17.9. Žmavcarji-Skuta-Štruca-Dolgi Hrbet-Kokrško sedlo

After Saturday's Stična mladih, yesterday Sunday to the mountains. We start a bit before seven from in front of the cargo cableway V koncu, where there were only about 2 free parking spots left. At the beginning we walk on macadam, then to a nice forest path, where we already missed a bit (we went straight where the path went right so we did about 20m on scree and had to descend a bit to reach the trail). When the views opened a little and while still in shade we ate something, before starting to ascend the already sunlit steep slope towards Bivak po Skuto. From there another 15 minutes following the ridgelet (where cairns help) and we reach the marked path. Over scree to the wall, and after 1 hour of easier climbing we are at the top. There we enjoy the views a bit and go towards Dolgi Hrbet and Štruca, which we summited on the way (2 minutes off the path). The path to Dolgi Hrbet is already quite demanding due to slight overhang in the notch. Otherwise the summit always looked within reach, but for the entire ridge traverse we still needed more than an hour. From Mlinarsko sedlo down fog caught us, which accompanied us all the way to Cojzova koča. From there still unpleasant descent to the valley and finally we were at the car.

Fapo, is it already allowed to drive past the hut in KB to the V koncu parking? On Saturday I plan from this starting point first to Cojzova koča and then to Skuta. I hope it didn't snow up there over the weekend, but does anyone know?

I went on 17.09. from V Koncu via Žmavcarje to Skuta. The road from KB is normally drivable, no snow.

That there's no snow! is quite the news.
The snow that fell over the weekend was all bare just an hour or two later. We're transitioning to autumn, so common sense says that October snow doesn't stick.

Thanks for the answers. Redbull, not all of us are highlanders to know how long it snowed and how much fell.

This year I myself am more of a lowlander, so you don't need to know much to figure out the conditions.

Today I was on Veliki Greben and Skuta.

Started at the Dom and continued towards Gamsov skret, where I turned right and crossed Veliki Greben to the east side above Žmavčarji. Wind was fine and grasses dry, so no issues. At the top I watched three large herds and two pairs of chamois from Mali podovi plunge down to Gamsov skret one after another.

Then continued to the marked path to Sleme. That's where the day's highlight really started. Three years ago I thought of going via Streža to Skuta, but right at the start I groped too much and turned back instead of half-assing into the ridge. Streža (II/I, 1h, Climbing guide: Kamniška Bistrica) is a route in the ridge continuing from Sleme to Skuta summit. Joins the marked path to Skuta about halfway on the secured part.

Expected something like Zeleniških špic due to grade, but badly mistaken. Intro is steeply pitched and burned my calves. On Sleme plateau route climbs rugged slabs, no problem. Then crux right away, choose left or right. Left a bit harder, right along narrow ledge to short gully, all high above south wall of Skuta. Then harder step that stopped me years ago. Thought that's it, but then new crux with smooth rock. Closer look, decided to find another way. Tried left, unsure, after longer traverse spotted narrow grassy ledge right of crux. Elegant bail option but again over south wall depths. Other side climbed back to ridge quickly. Ridge flattens gradually, occasional holds needed.

Anyway, Streža nice easy alpinistic extension after Veliki Greben, or cherry on top after unmarked paths via Žmavčarje/Gamsov skret. But again, intro tough and exposed, both sides of Podovi.

Then marked path to Skuta summit, down Štruca to Velike Pode then Kokrsko sedlo.

Hello,

does anyone maybe have info on conditions in the S wall of Skuta? And at the bivouac under Skuta?

Yesterday from Konc over Žmavčarji to summit. Snow starts a bit below bivouac, mostly south-facing to the top. Ridge section partly icy, quite demanding in these conditions.

Suhadolnik, Kokrsko sedlo, Skuta and Štruca and back the same way. Some snowfields, for the last one below the ridge used crampons, for descent went lower across and up rocks to marked path. Wind blew occasionally strong in gusts.

Today 14.7. Gamsov skret - over Sleme to southeast screes of Skuta - Skuta. Descent over Velike pode and Kokrsko sedlo. Exceptional loop, really a bit of everything.

Initial part of path over Gamsov skret quite overgrown and I picked up a nice number of ticks, since I was in shorts (too hot for long pants for me big grin ). Recommend long pants for first part of ascent.

Further ascent for me today quite strenuous. It dragged the most on the slope through the forest and further on steep grasses after rock jump. Otherwise really wonderful and solitary spots.

If someone lost very friendly domesticated chamois, reporting it was this morning around 06:40 in Gamsov skret. big grin It was very sociable, approached me several times quite closely and then "followed" me tightly for another 15 minutes. Or. maybe it just went its own track, which happened to be behind my heels smile

Caution - before entry to climbing part of path to Skuta still persists hard and steep snowfield and crossing without gear dangerous! I had only ice axe and made steps with it. Hiker behind me followed and went on made steps, meanwhile a family walking with us found passage above snowfield/short rest. So yes, but really carefully.

Further pure enjoyment. On summit quite some visitors, most people came from other side, some of them then descended further to Mali pode.

Descent to Velike pode easy, except very crumbly terrain in upper part if you stray a bit from marked path. On way to Velike pode there still two mini snowfields, which can easily be bypassed, or at time of descent already quite softened.

Also nice mountaineer's greeting to family and young Aleksander, who kept me company good part of descent path.
Almost as if he wanted to eat from my hand.1
Then he followed me for quite some time.2
...I'm still here.3
Predecessors climbing up. They are the only people I met today until the descent from Slemen below Skuta.4
Helmet on your head!5
The path here is equipped as if it were marked. A rope is also added. Nothing wrong, but it can easily be climbed towards the summit without ironware and rope.6
View back at the attractive passage.7
Uh, those steep grasses between the jump and the bench really tormented me.8

A bit more from above. Across the scree, shortcuts of such and other chamois are visible :)16
