Španov vrh: from Jesenice via Jelenkamen
|

Jesenice - Ukova - Španov vrh... a bit of confusion at the start, when it seems the path gets lost in the Ukova stream, and at the top we got lost among the weekend huts. Otherwise the path is almost dry, except towards Španov vrh there is still icy snow. It's a shame it was all foggy, next time better, bye Majda..

This winter unlike last year, the year before.. quite a few reports on high mountain conditions. "Evolution"? Maybe... Well, some of us are still more "down to earth", or in the mid-mountains; a bit maybe also (personally) due to technical issues... We're lucky that even here in winter it can be quite nice. Or even more than just nice. Descent from JK: a bit more carefully (leaves, iciness), otherwise all OK. Above 1000 almost warmer than in the valley, some sun etc. And the most important - peace! (nobody, just the two of us with Reksi) On JK we even met chamois. Lower roe deer. Enviable? Yes, in February still quite.. They really brightened our day. We went from home via Kozjak and Jelenkamna and back the same way. LP! heinz, Reksi

Labor Day and a trip to the mountains is the right choice. Španov vrh and of course the narcissus fields was today's goal. Started at Javorniški rovt and headed on the forest path towards the summit. By the streams, blooming narcissus and other mountain flowers I enjoyed, like I haven't for a long time. A real spring fairy tale. Best regards!

Today I went to check what's new in the 7 ravines, then jumped to Španov vrh. The path itself is quite cleared, which is ultimately the task of the hiking clubs, while the gorge is still mostly filled with trunks. Probably it will stay like that.. New markings at the junction above Ukova waterfall offer two options. The right one - before the old collapsed bridge up the slope left along the stream, which I took, is better, probably also older. The little bridge is more or less unnecessary, or unusable in wet. Anyway, praise to those who are trying! Narcissus: already at Skavarjev rovt, at Španov vrh not fully bloomed yet. Returned circular - via Jelenkamna.

...When we go in the morning with Ira to Kalvarija I notice that the fence on both little bridges is broken down. It came in handy for many to cross the water more safely, especially in winter when everything is icy. Rudeness really knows no bounds. One involuntarily wishes him to tumble into the water (not injured). A friendly forest creature then made my day. It stood right by the path watching us. Then a hare, but it was too fast for a photo. Yeah, in the morning you experience a lot...

Lately I've been taking the route like today: From home, across the tracks, past the blocks on Tomšičeva, then along GG towards Šporn. There right, and east over (right) Hlevček to Jk. Then over Dole and Lenčkov Šp. (on Rovt livestock and loggers who are felling), and to the marked path towards Španov. (a trio was fooling around just in thongs.., what can you do, that's also mountains -(future)) On the way back I mushroomed properly along the path. We already had dinner. And some for tomorrow.

Heinz, I have a feeling that Reksi in the last picture is surprisedly asking if this tour is finished for today I wish you many more such hikes and more demanding ones. And good luck to both.

I don't "drag" him on more demanding ones.., he's quite satisfied with these - conditioning ones. Personally I like both, or everything connected with mountains, nature etc. Thanks likewise for the nice wishes! Good luck to you too tisa!

Today Reksi and I mushroomed from home to Španov vrh and back. It was worth it. When rain soaks the ground, it will be crazy. Weather was of course more suitable for mountains.. Good too!

Well, yesterday I headed up there via Murova, over Pejce, to Skavarjev rovt, etc. to Šp. vrh. Snow in Karavanke is persistently melting, same visible all the way to Storžič.. Maybe there will still be some real mountain autumn. Would be nice..

Jelenkamen - Španov vrh... Some autumn snapshots. Along the Jelenkamen ridge all leaves are already on the ground. Higher and lower parts are beautifully autumn-colored. I returned via the shortest, worst path, past the old water intake. A considerable part of the path is underwater, the little bridges are no longer usable, cheers Majda..

Today it was like this: quite warm, sunny, no wind, and in the evening it cleared up completely. Looks like tomorrow will be even nicer.

...The observation post is really something special. It stands a little before the big chapel, if you're returning to Jesenice via Pejce. Nice views now from Jelenkamen, since someone cut down the trees around the summit, cheers, have a nice day...
