20.7....Špik Hude police, mountain beautiful as always and views too. Path pleasant, female ibexes with young along the path. Many visitors, good thing my morning hours. Last part of road before the pasture newly asphalted. Parking lot around 12.00 full, cars even parked down the road. Unfortunately traffic jams on the road and driving tiring.. But, mountain is beautiful and memories remain.

Has anyone maybe walked the Pecol - Špik hude police path in the last week via the easy variant? Chance of any frozen section on the path? Thanks, LP

I haven't been, but if you check the webcam and forecast this week, there definitely won't be a frozen section on that path

I completely agree with Filip's note; and even if there was any of that, the path is such (not exposed), there wouldn't be problems. Southern sides like this are dry even higher than this peak

Nice photos, thanks for post and info.
Completely agree on inappropriateness of drone flying over hikers and animals. Still, point out one inaccuracy (not to mislead others). Špik Hude Police not part of any national or regional park.

In the morning the road to Pecol was still closed, so we started at the "finanzieri", where I usually start winter tours on the ridges. Nice trail through the forest to Casere Larice, then road to Montaža plateau and past hut Brazza to the summit. Just patches of snow to Ceria-Merlone junction, then more and more, soon firm snow cover to the top. Footprints hard but walkable without gear, off them in the windblown it sank over ankles. Nice weather to summit, some sun between hut and top, then quickly closed in and summit rest was in mostly cloudy weather. Descent careful to end of snow, then quick and relaxed past hut same way to saddle Na Žlebeh. Surprisingly few ibex, only some on descent, including mother with young. Quite some visitors on the mountain, many turned back at snow line. At hut we learned they opened the road later, but that didn't bother us, quite the opposite. Happy for longer route and more time among our beloved mountains, knowing Sunday will be different and dry high mountain might be over for this year. Great day, wonderful company

On trail below summit some snowfields to cross, can avoid them if free climbing beside snowfields not foreign to you. We didn't have winter gear, were late and snow softened, saw quite some hikers who turned back before snowfield. If not used to off-trail, wait another week it'll be easier.

Was at end of July during week, recommend early start around 7 - when parking at Pecol still almost empty, hiking in shade almost to top, and ibex wait for you along way. Saw marmots and golden eagles too, strong wind and wide views at top, blooming meadows on planina ...
Most people still ascending when we were descending. Trail really easy and gentle, I didn't even sweat.  But one spot really watch out if wet rock. Anyway, enjoyment. Oh, at hut Brazza they speak Slovenian too!
