Yesterday's Špik Hude police was quite windy. Trail is dry up to about 2100m, from there snowfields. With buddy we put on crampons, some others....

I was on Špik Hude Police yesterday, the path is completely dry. The path is easy, yet offers really very nice views. Especially it was my first two-thousander abroad nasmeh. If you want to be alone on the summit, go early. I was on the summit yesterday at 8.20 and was completely alone for one hour. When descending, I met at least 30 hikers.

Today we climbed as a family to Špik Hude Police, early so it wasn't hot for us. Even chamois were few, as they all hide from the heat.
On return also swimming in Rabelj Lake. On Pecol alpine pasture full of cars, so there were hikers.

I start shortly before 18:00 and soon I'm at the summit of Špik Hude Police. The path is very nicely routed, zigzag, met chamois along the way. Summit warm with some wind, descended the approach route.

With a colleague we did the Ceria Merlone path, below Špik we turned into the valley. We had crampons with us, which in Friday's warm weather weren't needed due to soft snow.nasmeh

This year the area around Montaž has grown close to my heart and yesterday again nearbynasmeh.
This time after seventeen years to the easiest summit from its surroundings Špik hude police, which delights with luxurious views of mighty mountains, Viš and Montaž are the closest giants, above Škrbina of Prednja Špranje Jalovec peeks from the background. I was also impressed by the view into the steep glacier a bit below its summit, which is not interesting for ascent now. I don't know how to get down from it now.

Yesterday lots of visitors, ibexes hid a bit, but not all. A white-headed eagle circled above the summit ridges, marmots were heard too.
End of the tour again at Rabeljsko jezero, where swimming couldn't be skipped despite quite cooled water. Probably the last time this year.

Wednesday 5.9.... Path is wet and slippery in shady spots. No more flowers, summit was just for me on my arrival. Views beautiful and enjoyment of surrounding peaks too. Ibex mothers and kids were quite common in the morning hours. On return none, no marmots in sight either. But they were very loud.nasmeh

Monday 7.1.2019, Sedlo Hude Police from Zajzera via Huda Palica gully, the longest in the Julian Alps.
Snow starts already at Planina Zajzeri. The path climbing to Bivacco Mazzeni is now covered with ice falls, so need to be careful. Snow is wind-packed in some parts, sinks to knees. Footprints visible in snow, so I assume someone was here a day or two ago. In the gully not enough snow to cover the first rocky step, footprints stop here and turn back to valley. From here no more problems, gully steeply ascends between wild north walls to Sedlo Hude Police. Last few meters where slope steepens conditions very bad, ice axe doesn't hold in wind snow. I skipped this part due to high slip risk. Best time for this tour is April or May, when snow is fully settled and gully completely filled.
