Stenar

According to webcams, there's snow in drifts up to 40 cm - Kredarica, some places windblown. Tomorrow will be a nice day, but in high mountains fully wintery, and crampons, due to hardening and frost on steeper parts, won't be superfluous.

If anyone was on Stenar over the weekend, I'm really interested in the path conditions regarding snow and if it's frozen?

On 25.10 I was on Stenar. Very little snow, path to the top without ice, didn't even need crampons!

Sure, I also get on the bike, although lately less cool than I'd like.

Today I was on Stenar. Start a little before seven (one hour late) in Vrata. It took one hour of walking to the snow. In the lower part there wasn't much sinking up to 10 cm, higher towards the Stenar saddle it was frozen, so crampons on feet and ice axe in hand. The traverse was still nicely frozen on the ascent, crampons gripped super, on the return a good hour later it was already thawedmrk pogled. The summit south slopes are a chapter unto themselves, all water I sank up to my ass, so I crawled some parts on all foursjezen. The weather was sunny, only occasionally some fog came, just when I was at the top. It was a wonderful day in the mountains, fully used vacation day.

Hi
On Saturday I plan to go to Stenar. Has anyone been around there recently? Is there still a lot of snow?

On Saturday we were on Stenar via Sovatna... in the upper part of Sovatna there are still snowfields, above Dovška vrata more than a meter of snow, you need crampons and ice axe for safe approach to Stenar summit.. snow doesn't sink, except late afternoon

I'm interested if there are technically demanding spots or exposed sections on the path from Zadnjica to Stenar. I have good fitness, can hike all day, but NOT if there are exposed paths.
Thanks in advance for the answer.

Path from Zadnjica to Pogačnikov dom is safe and now completely dry. Approx. 4 hours from Zadnjica. The path to Stenar is not demanding if dry, without snow.

I was up there today. From Dovška vrata to the summit half the path goes over snowfields. At least an ice axe is needed. Whoever goes up before ten also needs crampons, the snow is still quite hard. The last part to the summit is dry.

I'm curious about the path condition from Dovških vrat to Stenar and Križ. Is the path well visible and marked, since I read on the forum that it's poorly marked?

I was on Stenar from Dovških vrat at the beginning of the month, missed the path only where there was a snowfield. Just look at the map a bit, you know the direction, no problem. In the worst case you reach Stenarska vrata. Probably today there's no more that snowfield, so no problems.

To the junction where the path to Križ branches off, well marked, first markings might be missing but path is visible. A few steps still over snowfield, was up yesterday nasmeh

Please, can someone tell me the difficulty of the path from Stenar over Stenarska vratca. From Stenar I looked and it seemed to me only right at the top a rocky part (what is the path like over the rocky part), otherwise ahead it looked like scree. Does the path from Stenarska vratca join at Bivak IV, where there is a junction? Also lower under Bivak IV along the marked path towards Aljažev dom, I noticed a worn sign Stenar and further some mountain marks, is ascent towards Stenarska vratca possible there too?

Nothing harder, just tedious crumbly, and game can mess around. Where the junctions are I don't remember - it's a couple years ago and we went down there, so wasn't really paying attention to junctions. Look on the left if someone already wrote route description.
