Yesterday (Wed, June 2) from Aljažev dom over Stenarska vratca to the summit, down over Dovška vratca and Sovatna. Morning weather nice, Triglav had interesting cloud cap. Path to Škrlatica lost quickly in gusts and drifts after Šlajmerca, but emergency markers led to gully with lots of snow still. Consolidated snow starts at Počivalo (ca 1400m), good trodden tracks helped to get quickly under Stenar. Avalanches over north face, also east of Križ. Under Stenarska vratca sinking a lot, bit below edge found welcome 2hr old ski track of tourer carrying skis on pack to summit steeps. Fog hit in traverse above Vratca, tracks worn so every 3rd crampon sank. Summit fog, Triglav top showed once or twice, heard chopper promising not foggy everywhere. Descent sinking almost to ass, wet snow traverse over invisible drop not pleasant. At Stenarska vratca decided after careful thought to descend to Dovška vratca in fog and rotten snow. Visibility few m, followed fresh ski track somewhat, navigation occasionally, went ok. Lower sky opened. Upper jump above Sovatna skiable ok, lower need bootpack few m. Another week walking needed. Took axe in hand just in case, no crampons. With skis would traverse right pre-forest to Luknja path ski to Prag junction. Instead straight down snow patches through forest. Avalanches booming over walls. Most interesting gully right of Slovenska smer. Mass snow ice rocks water fell 600m+ over wall. Lower flow 50m wide. Flew, fell, rumbled 20min. Then surely highest biggest Slovenian waterfall .

Does anyone have "fresh" information about snow patches on Stenar from the Sovatna route (Kriški podi)? The visit is planned for next weekend, but anyway...

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's still any snow on the path over Sovatna to Stenar? Thanks for the reply!

There is still one snow patch, but it's not problematic.

Does anyone know if the path over Stenarska vratca is snowed in? What's the situation over Sovatna?

Has anyone been to Stenar - is the path from Vrata over Sovatna dry, or passable without winter gear?

Kofica, the path through Sovatna faces south and snow melts quicker there than in Lublan. Sunscreen and glasses, long pants and sleeves, arafat on the head, and lots of water with you is now the hot topic, not winter gear. Oh, kofica, we gotta have coffee together sometime. Enjoy it and good luck!

Sadly no pic. 5.6.2022 there was still quite a lot of snow field towards Stenar. Personally I'd not cross it in morning hours at least without ice axe. But folks were going up and down. Didn't see if they had gear. Doubt all that snow has melted, but probably much smaller now.
