No, no, sir, to get lost from Kališče to Mače village is really impossible since you went up that path in the morning and didn't notice earlier that you weren't on the right path until you reached the valley. No, well, all is possible, maybe fog or thick hat.
Nice greeting and safe path!

Čemšeničan, it is possible. But no thick hat nor fog, and I see very well (no glasses) and have hiked many mountains in my life. When I realized I was no longer on the right path, I didn't want to go back up the hill, but hoped for some turnoff to Mače, otherwise I would go to Mače from Bašelj village (and so it was). I assumed these two villages are very close and they really were. PD Kranj should do its job properly, then this won't happen. On the picture, see what poorly visible marks you have, and even those are hard to find.
This is the state of the rare markings on the path. That's all about markings on this path.1
The same marking from closer.2

On Sunday returning from Storžič over Škarjev rob lost crampon somewhere in snow. If someone finds it, please return it. o40741714 or leave it at hut under Storžič with keeper. Maybe wait till spring. Thanks in advance.

Navrhu - Some of us started up at that time or a bit later and of course it was foggy around 13.

It was like this nice today on Storžič. We went from Mač and since conditions were favorable, we headed to the top. Wind was blowing quite strongly at times. Not much snow, soft in some areas, frozen in others. Crampons and ice axe were mandatory gear for the summit.

Up to Kališče it's mostly gone, further there's quite a bit in some places, nothing in others. Wherever it blew it, nothing on the saddle and likewise on some parts of the ridge.

Does anyone know what the path from Povelj is like or if it's safe to go up there?

Today wonderful tour from Kanonirja to Bašeljsko sedlo and along the ridge to the top from the hunting hut under Sedlam: mandatory crampons and ice axe, then just enjoy the squeaking snow and views.
Path quite well tracked, caution needed.

It's really beautiful. Shame, the day is too short to enjoy more at the top.

The ascent to Storžič proved more than excellent as the last hike of the year. This time start from Mač, the path is, ignoring the road start, at least to me nicer than from Bašelj, as despite forest it's more open and sun warmed me in the morning. Hut at Kališče closed - shame, today lots of people, upper forest path frozen, from Kališče on real winter fairy tale like all week. Weather perfect, almost too hot hehe, no wind, views kitschy... conditions varied on ascent and descent as sun does its... hard and wet snow, partly blown, partly ok to walk. Really nice last day...nasmeh

Storžič - via Žrelo. Due to shady side the snow has not melted yet and is well consolidated, so access to higher areas via gullies is possible. Of course only with proper gear and very carefully, because water flowing from the snow creates real ice crusts on the rocks in places, making slipping even easier than usual. From arrival at the ridge onwards it is easier, I was early enough not to have problems with south snow. The descent surprised me - I turned towards Škarjev rob in the direction of the hut under Storžič where I had the car, but arrived at Jezersko. The only track in that direction was obviously wrong, and there were no marks at all to know if I was still on planet Earth. Friendly innkeeper by the road to Jezersko explained that this is common here and many wander into this area. Well, all OK, I had a really great time, Žrelo is really sin-worthy. I warn that it is anything but for beginners, especially in winter. Lots of caution and good gear is needed, which the mountaineer must above all know how to use. See you somewhere "up there".

On Sunday 15.11., returning from Storžič via Škarjev rob, lost a crampon somewhere in the snow. If found, please return it. 040741714. Or leave it at the hut under Storžič if snow has melted enough, otherwise wait. LP.

I wonder if the hut at Kališče is open tomorrow-Saturday and if the path to Storžič is reasonably passable. LP.
