I had them with me but didn't use them. An ice axe would have been more useful. With a bit of caution, no big problem.

Presumably "better" ice axe "comes in handy" only once you've ALREADY slipped due to NOT using crampons. "Caution" doesn't always turn out exactly 100%, but the head is always just one. mežikanje

Along the path Mače - Kališče - Storžič - Bašeljski vrh - Mali Grintovec - Srednji vrh - Cjanovca - Hudičev boršt - Mače.
The entire path is well marked and normally passable.
Day great for hiking, but not for views.

Today I went to the top of Storžič through Žrelo. No snowfields left anywhere, so the path is nicely passable without ice axe.

Today to Storžič through Žrelo, descended via Škarjev rob. Conditions to top of Žrelo very good, along ridge quite windy, so needed to be very careful. At summit forgot stamp booklet - big thanks to the finder.

Today's visit to beautiful Storžič, route Laško - Storžič (via Kališče).
First time from Laško direction to Kališče. Path well marked so no issue even night walking. Demanding parts have protections. Gravel road at start quite "rough", but from first parking (below Lovrenc) much better.

Yesterday the sixth repetition of 'Storžič vertical kilometer' was happening. It takes place on a less known and visited, and extremely steep path almost to the top of the mountain. Starting point is Gamsov raj, pleasant excursion spot. The path is nicely trodden and impossible to miss. Just up velik nasmeh

. Due to the nice day the completely crapped summit was teeming with visitors, most of course from Kališče direction. We returned the same way, as snack and awards were waiting for us in Gamsov raj.

Today after some years again on Storžič - this time for the first time via the path through Žrelo, which was my long-standing wish. Husband was for the first time on Storžič and this path was a real challenge for him! We trained well, we are proud of our achievement velik nasmeh

I agree with the path label "very demanding", though I've crossed quite some mountains and secured paths. In the lower part of Žrelo rocks were wet and slippery in the morning, higher dry (wind had blown). Quite some spots really awkward to climb, another belay wire wouldn't hurt ... Through Žrelo met only two Croats, on top a bit more hikers, no crowd though. View limited by clouds and fog, occasionally sun shone, afternoon finally cleared and revealed all beauties around nasmeh

. Larches now just the right golden color!
Descent over Škarjev rob, upper part very crumbly and requires much caution!
Time marks on path were accurate for us. But on both paths marks mostly faded and need renewal - at least before new season. Often you guess and search where path continues over rocks ...

If someone heads to Storžič from Tržič side, road to hut impassable from gravel road junction, one minute drive past Slaparska vas (last village before gravel). Path extends by about one hour moderate walk.

Otherwise typical autumn day. Clouds below, mostly sun above, rock wet.

up to here, in principle you can go a little further, but safe is safe, park on the side at the right fork, but I don't know if they like it or not

part of the road was eroded by the stream

outflow of smaller landslide? detour on the right side of the road to fallen trunks

Who will repair all these damaged and destroyed forest roads along the way? We'll be forced to walk more and more to starting points, like in the past. On mountain paths more and more bushwhacking and crawling under spruces or climbing over them eek

Today from home already in rain. Luckily only light drizzle all the time. Rain turned to snow only above Bašeljski preval at edge above cable. From there to top modest snow blanket too. Summit fog, windy, light snowing. It was worth it. nasmeh
