Today: hot especially on the last ascent, otherwise o.k. Foggy, cloudy, clearing.. Gentians growing, some snow still, Očak looks passable or most of it dry from Planike. (as one predecessor described)
On the path under Tosc (towards Vodnikova) met huge number of Czech hikers. Plenty of Slovenes too. On top of Tosca we were alone shortly before 10 a.m.

Conditions in eastern gully of Tosca solid. Lots of wind-packed snow in upper part.

Today I went to Tosc. Path is normally passable. Weather was wonderful, only view to valley not too clear. But didn't bother me at all, view to Triglav unforgettable. Top of Tosca very green, probably sheep to blame, they grazed it well nasmeh Great day, take care.

Yesterday we were on Tosc. From Rudno polje to Studorski preval the path is repaired in several places. The path to Tosc ridge is also b. p.
Enjoyed the wonderful views.

5.7.2011 2.7.11 at 5:00 at the last parking lot the car shows 2 deg. C, at 7:30 standing on the top, quite strong northerly but approx. -2 deg. C, on descent follows attack of 50 sheep velik nasmeh, which a bit randomly sniff some remainseek... In short at 10:15 back at car, ahead practically whole day, conditions generally quite o.k. nasmeh

Today I went to Tosc. Weather ideal for hiking, very nice views. On return sheep encircled me--which quite violently "sniffed food remains". Path very nice, just in fog you have to be quite careful not to miss the cairns. Nice regards Janez

They say it's crowded in the mountains lately. That certainly doesn't hold for Tosc. On the summit itself we met only two mountaineers, but numerous female alpine pasture visitors, whose traces we observed mainly on the summit. Started early morning from Rudno polje, the hike was pleasant due to the cool, which didn't apply to the return. Among the flowers gentians prevailed. Let the pictures say more.

With such nice weather had to use the last nice day before worsening. Start at the end of the road on Pokljuka, first to Ablanca then direct to Veliki DV along the ridge, from VDV pathless and "alpinistic" ascent direct to Tosc, from Tosc descent then on marked path calm down right to Velo polje, to the hut then loop around Velo polje, then just return. Immensely enjoyed, natural beauties, nice clear weather, relatively warm no wind...almost golden larches (needles falling), huts empty, people countable on one or two hands.nasmeh

It was really nice, clear, almost windless, at pl.konjščica it showed at 11.00 11-12°C, almost no hikers, but the path from Velega polja to Stud.prevala drags on.

I was surprised by the snow ptarmigan's reaction, because usually other birds flee-take off in a moment, well some chough likes to hang around, since after all there are no other birds, except in the forest, bushes. The ptarmigan just hid a bit behind a rock, so I could photograph it, but on the way back from pl.Konjščica a squirrel was following me, a bit higher above the hiking path smile. Probably wanted some more food to survive the winter easier.

Can you just tell me, is the path to Ablanco very crumbly? Because, from the pics, the path looks quite demandingeek, and we'd rather leave the poles at the pass at the start of the ascent. I got a bit scared yesterday, that it might be too crumbly somewhere and consequently more dangerousmrk pogled. And so I didn't challenge too much....

@katty: Hard to tell you, it's a bit crumbly, short, more information others will tell you when they know the conditions better and can describe it better, ...
