Today I headed out on the described path and it took exactly 3 hours. Again it was full of car-tourists who ate all the food in ALL HUTS. At 14:30 there was no more food except vamps, which no one eats anyway. Big criticism for the hut keepers that they don't stock enough food to feed all these car-tourists and us few who come on foot from the valley. LP. B

Our family also walks the described path in approx 3 hours, late afternoon we usually get food in Črnuški dom, I think it's already at Mali Planina. They have quite good food and portions are large enough, I think the prices are not too inflated either. Vanja

Hello, we were there for the first time on Velika Planina. There was no crowd at all. Such unfriendliness as we experienced in the Domžale hut I don't recall, probably other people who were there would share this opinion. I hope it's not always like that. Ana

When we were there in winter they were friendly, but the žganci with cabbage were very "unfriendly", so next time we'll bring our own food.
Priporočam Črnuški dom in pa pohvale gospe Nežiki za prijaznost na Planini Kisovec Alenka Dear Ana, in Domžale hut they are unfriendly only every summer or two, because they have the so-called new keeper. The lady is so very tall and friendly only to cops and their horses. When the previous owner was there, we gladly stopped there, even slept over and never left hungry or thirsty. They had ice cream too, as my nephews after a three-hour hike always deserve a reward. When I asked for ice cream there last summer, I got a real sermon on unhealthy eating and that's why they don't have ice cream. I recommend Črnuški dom and praise to Mrs. Nežika for friendliness at Planina Kisovec Alenka

I'm interested in the path to Velika Planina via Kraljev hrib and Planina Dol. Please provide a description of the path. Thanks. M.

As for the Domžale hut... my experience. My boyfriend and I went on a trip, we had a dog with us. We arrived at the hut, we hadn't ordered anything yet. I immediately jumped into the hut with an empty bottle to the WC for water for the dog. The guy behind the counter rushed after me and rudely said: THIS WATER IS NOT DRINKABLE! I replied: Yeah, but for the dog it will probably be fine, for me I still have some in the backpack! Probably it wasn't right, since I didn't buy water from them.

Thank God she warned you that the water is not drinkable, you could have quickly gotten some diarrhea. The lady most likely didn't know that the water isn't for you.

I usually fill drinking water from the tap on the pasture, the planšarji told me it's drinkable. Most likely it's from the same pipe as in the Domžale hut, just a bit cheaper than the one from behind the bar.

We go every year for a week on vacation to the planina and drink water from the taps on the planšarija without problems, it's probably the same as in the Domžale hut.

It's normal that it's the same, just cheaper

Direction Kranjski rak - Zeleni rob is nice, if you choose the path along the ridge it's exceptionally scenic

I really like going to Velika Planina. I've been up there more than 1000 times

Velika Planina offers many approaches. To me the nicest via Rigelj, wild 'forgotten' over Kuklarje, orientationally tricky 'past' Sivnik, winter favorite through Dolski graben (and of course from Volovljek) ... There are some even wilder ones ... From wherever ... everywhere it's nice.

We like best going from Planina Kisovec, at the always friendly Mrs. Nežika we also leave the car or leave it already in the valley and have the first stop at Nežika's.

18.11.2007 we drove by car to Stahovica, where we boarded the bus and went to the lower station for Velika Planina. Here our path began, 2 hours to Planina Dol and then another hour to Velika Planina. Mandatory tea, then on to Mala Planina, descent to Primož and back to Stahovica. Light snowfall accompanied us the whole way, strong wind on top. Otherwise a great trip in the snow, we spent seven hours in total.
