Conditions were almost summer today, icy patches in bushes on descent quite tricky trap for quick fall... Views wintry to Savudrija and Trdinov vrh.
The lookout is not lonely in such weather1

On Saturday to Great Draški Peak. Path to Jezerc snowy, wind-packed, partially icy. Above Jezerc to Studorski saddle more snow, snow refrozen, unconsolidated, partially bears weight. Ridge to summit initially snowy among bushes, then fully hard.

Descent to junction at Srenjski saddle initially hard, then snowy. Snow south-facing, ice axe recommended. Crampons useless, too south-facing. From Srenjski saddle to Viševnik only occasionally snowy. Viševnik summit hard, packed snow on ski slope.

What are conditions from Studorski saddle to VDV, is snow hard, track made? Has anyone walked around here? Thanks for info.

With crampons and ice axe the ascent won't trouble you.

Between 7 and 8 o'clock we start walking from Rudno polje towards the ski slope and then to Konjščica. Up the chamois gully, full like it hasn't been for a long time. Sometimes sinking to the knees, elsewhere on the surface. Descent to the saddle and to Great Draški Peak, mixed conditions, but nowhere icy. But quite some crust.

Yesterday 26.3. morning from Rudno over "holey" Konjščica and semi-sinking Jezerc to Great Draški. Gaiters on crampons. Down buddy over Špik (via chamois) and some tourers before military hut. Yaymežikanje

I'm interested in passability to Great Draški from Rudno p. as end of week I plan to go up. Somewhere I saw that large area "covered" with windthrow - fallen spruces, forcing through supposed very awkward....

Where best to go up to avoid it?
Thanks for info.

Windthrow traces only on lower path from Rudno polje towards Konjščica.

It seems that this year at least at the start of the season, the biggest problems for trips to the Bohinj mountains will be the passability of forest roads and the walkability of paths that run through the forest.
After last December's windthrow, there are fallen trees almost on all paths (planina Jezero, Laz, Krstenica ...)
Also on Pokljuka I ran into fallen and impassable trees this morning on the road from Rudno polje past the Biathlon center towards the parking for Konjščica. So I turned around and parked at the barracks. In fact, there's still snow on the road to the ski slope for a few days.
The path to Konjščica is dry, above the planina towards Jezerc snow starts right away.
Initially planned to go to Tosc but soon after descending from Studorski preval I turned back. In the shaded sections of the path around Tosc there's still quite a bit of ice, which is pretty steep.
So I decided for Great Draški Peak. A bit on the summer path, a bit my own way.
Snow almost to the top, the main ridge is dry and the summit too.
Wasn't really clear in the morning, so I turned back soon and was home for lunch.

Yesterday start at VDV from the end of the road on Pokljuka. The road is passable but great caution is needed as timber extraction after the windthrow is ongoing and there's so much that you hardly believe your eyes. Otherwise the path itself via planina Konjščica where you can refresh to Studorski preval. I've been to the pass many times but this time first total calm, wouldn't even extinguish a match. Then along the ridge to the summit, path wonderful as always, even the sun was mostly behind clouds so it was really pleasant and the ridge and summit in calm. Returned via the meadow towards MDV and below it turned towards planina Konjščica. On the planina a few drops of rain came but nothing serious. Definitely another wonderful day in our mountains. Regards

On January 1st we summited Great Draški Peak. Did the tour Rudno polje - Viševnik - Srenjski preval - Great Draški Peak - Studorski preval - above planina Konjščica - Rudno polje. Almost no snow on Viševnik slope, more on shady side. Frozen snow on the traverse of the slope of Malega Draškega vrh on the trail, on the lower part of V. Draški vrh slope hardly a sample, on the upper part crampons come into play as well as on descent to Jezerca.
Trail above planina Konjščica has some icy sections. More at: https://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/144683/

Has anyone been up there in the last few days? What's it like? Any wind slabs anywhere? Is Viševnik - VDV traverse safe? Does the snow settle too much for walkers?

Today on Great Draški Peak and then also past Srenjski to Viševnik. Despite strong wind successfully completed the tour.
