Yesterday we climbed to VDV on skis. Our favorite ascent is via Zlate vode to Srenjski preval and then skiing to Jezerca. There we joined the route from Konjščica. For walkers I recommend snowshoes. At the top nice views and some wind. Enough powder for skiing. From Jezerca we climbed once more to Srenjski preval and continued skiing on beautiful powder behind the rocky edge to the sandpit and along the cross-country track to the end. Best.

Has anyone been up there lately also without skis? Is there any track made for walkers too?
Thanks for answers ...

On Sunday there were some snowboarders. Those without snowshoes were sinking in places. But conditions are changing due to high temperatures at altitude. Best.

Yesterday I nicely took advantage of the last nice day of the week according to forecasts. Again I went the variant over Kačji rob to Srenjski preval. All the time I followed the already made ski track. Then skiing to Jezerca and then ascent to the peak, where surprisingly there was no wind today. For skiing back there was still enough powder and soft areas all the way to Jezerca. Here I put on skins again and climbed to Srenjski preval and on to Viševnik. From the top I descended over the ridge to the north side and further over the edge towards the sandpit to the ski slope. Lp
A nice day was in prospect.1

Check out yesterday's photos from @otiva when he was on Viševnik. You can find him quite a few times in his photos mežikanje http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=780

Yeah I looked, but I don't know how much snow there actually is (how much it sinks), we have gear, but if it sinks too much we wouldn't go

In the morning it didn't sink badly, as much as I deliberately stepped into the snow on the ascent to Viševnik. During the day it's all different, especially in the sun. Since warmer weather is forecast, it will probably be hard to walk on snow already in the morning.

Was yesterday over Viševnik and Srenjski preval. A couple of small tongues under the pass and on Na kontah and then towards the top of VDV. Nothing difficult, very little snow (about 30cm), need to cross every 10m or so. Still good to have sturdy winter boots. The path near the ridge edge is at times quite covered with snow, so harder to follow (watch out, some switchbacks are practically on the edge of the drop). More substantial snowfield is from Studorski preval to Jezerca (I did this loop back to Rudno polje), but it doesn't sink much, snow is quite compact.

Early enough on Pokljuka to avoid afternoon showers. Didn't think about the morning ones zavijanje z očmi I'm going up the upper path towards Jezerca. A few switchbacks ahead of me there's another hiker. Obviously someone was stomping before us, as I noticed a bear track in the muddy ground. I like animals, but I really wouldn't want to meet him eek
To Jezerca it's already snow-free, only snow up to Studorski preval persists. Continue through dwarf pines, along the ridge to Veliki Draški vrh.
From the cloud that gathered over Viševnik and MDV it soon started to precipitate. First a bit of sleet then light rain nothing stronger. Descend from the top towards the saddle between Draški peaks, and along the path below MDV to Viševnik. The path is snow-free but quite wet.
No crowd on Viševnik, but despite the rain a couple of hikers made it to the top. When I get to the car, sun again nasmeh

On Sunday we conquered the Draški beauty, which offers really nice views of our daddynasmeh. The path to Pl.Konjščica was in the morning or forenoonmežikanje very slippery and muddy, where caution wasn't superfluous. At Studorski preval the path goes straight into the dwarf pines, through which you crawl a bit in places, but soon you reach the ridge where you already spot the familiar three-headednasmeh. Along the ridge the path went without issues and with beautiful views we quickly reached our goal. The summit was quite crowded, as the weather was ideal for hiking - not too hot and not too cold. For the end a jump into Bohinj lake and the day was perfectnasmehcool

Last weekend on VDV. Route: Rudno polje - Kačji rob - Srenjski preval - Na kontah - VDV - Studorski preval - Planina Konjščica - Rudno polje.

The path is wonderful, well marked, the unmarked path to VDV summit orientationally not demanding, cairns help, otherwise the trail is already well trodden and visible. Just a bit to watch on the descent through the dwarf pines to Studorski preval. For the finish we got tasty cow cheese at Planina Konjščica, in short, super loop!

Today ski ascent to Draški vrh via Kačji rob and Srenjski preval. Follows great skiing towards Jezerci, then ascent to the summit. I walked with skis all the time. Northern slopes are windblown to old ice base, valleys and gullies full of snow that holds the skier all the time. For walkers I think it wouldn't be like that all the time.
Great views from the top all the way to the sea.
Skied down the ascent route and enjoyed good conditions all the time. Regardsnasmeh

I agree with my two predecessors, it's nice to watch Franci's pictures (his camera is worth every cent he paid...that picture with boats..cool.nasmeh)...
All praise also to others who inform us about conditions and obstacles on the way to the mountains.
Above all, they show us how beautiful our mountains are and of course can also be dangerous....
Safe steps, lucky and careful, M.nasmeh

Today we ascended to Great Draški Peak via Planina Konjščica. Snow starts at Jezerci and there's still a lot up to the top of Studorski preval, but it presents no problems for walking without winter gear. The ridge to the summit is more or less bare.
