The Altar is such a handy mountain, quick up, quick down, a bit of scrambling in between, what could be nicer. Today I had two very friendly girls with me too, if anyone heard screams never before in life, that's 100% "wasn't us" velik nasmeh

Great Altar from Dnine (11.02.23)

Nice snow-covered channel, only at the right bend and steep continuation we remove skis as it's hard. That's where in summer the annoying bushes are, sometimes on all fours. Past Dnine to the end. To the saddle we sweated quite a bit, as in this snow you "float". Original goal Paradise dropped, more time due to bad base. Altar no picnic, different from firmer snow-covered base or bare rock. Descent and ski approx. 1300m vert

On Saturday after work to the bivouac, second day Altar and Dovški križ. "Kingdom of solitude", where you hardly meet other hikers...then you look across the valley, where Triglav is bending under the weight of tourists...

Yesterday we mountaineers of Slovenian Mountaineering Club Skala walked a beautiful, demanding, circular path to Great Altar starting from-Poldov rovt.Up through Brinova glava, descent past bivouac at Jezerih. Path is demanding, lots of scree on path, great caution needed so no slip occurs.On path there are quite a few cairns, so in good weather no major orientation issues.Helmet mandatory. At top wonderful views.
