Virnikov Grintovec

Today chasing early afternoon sun rays on Virnik Grintavec.

Start at Zgornji Jezersko-opposite former Kazina turn to church on hillock. Asphalt road to here. Somewhere near farm leave car, of course watch not to disturb them-no special parking. Here was sign for Virnik Grintavec-now lies fallen on ground. On bad forest path we go on unmarked path to larger pasture where once high alpine farm-this should be Virnikova planina-not sure. Recently still ruins, now already log cabin under road. Go on road to end of pasture then left and left on very bad cart track. Here soon walk above wonderful weekend house. Signs direct to forest and walk beside bed of small brook. Now path by bed in bad state. When move right from bed come to marked path coming from Jezersko on which best return, because no marks from church to weekend house and can easily stray. From weekend to marked path shouldn't have orientation problems. Soon come to plain where dilapidated shed stands and here border and Austrian signs. From here path first through forest then in numerous zigzags steeply up to ridge. Then on pleasant path along ridge to spacious summit. Can walk to co-peak which is just a bit away.

The signpost is already here, only it is on the ground, so the direction is right.

From the forest path we come to gravel, which brings us to a fairly extensive pasture.

View of the abandoned high mountain farm - there are no ruins anymore.

Even on the summit we are on the border.

Pristovski Storžič - unfortunately there was no wonderful view today.

When we descend from the forest we reach a new gravel path that leads us to Jezersko, because the marked shortcuts here are closed.

On this beautiful road we head to Jezersko or we start the tour on this path - it's simpler.

Hello. On Saturday (17 Nov) with my girlfriend we are planning a trip to V. Grintovec. What are the snow conditions on the path? Thanks a lot for the reply. Good luck!

In the morning I still did some work on the field, then left everything, sat in the car and went to Jezersko, no backpack, no poles, only 0.5l water and some frutabel, chose Virnikov Grintovec, but before the summit a shower hit me, then on return thunderstorm with hail, on top not much time, when returning on ridge met 4 hikers. Near starting point thunderstorm calms, at church pretty quickly to car then home. During drive somewhere in Kokra area hail hits so beautifies my car a bit more, filmed all, later upload video. But no problem for car age/km to end.

First time today on Vrnik Grintovec. The path is nice and dry. I went from Jezerski vrh along the road and then up from Robekova planina. Warm and slightly windy weather, the summit has a nice view which was limited by thermals. Nice tour, I recommend it.

Today I was for the first time on this panoramic summit on Jezersko. The path is nicely laid out, well maintained and marked. Truly nice trip, which from hotel Planinka 2/3 runs in pleasant cool of the forest, last third along panoramic ridge.

Today from Jezersko to Virnikov Grintovec. First time and no regrets. Path is nice, just towards summit on ridge some snow. At top huge cairn, logbook and stamp. Weather sunny, no wind, snowy peaks everywhere you look.

Today again to this mountain, this time with Todi. Weather so-so, at least no fog. This really is a solitary hike. Met only one hiker. Went from Zg.Jezersko. Just on ridge still some snow.

Yesterday from Zg.Jezersko to top, 2 hrs 20. Path firm and dry. On way back below summit met octet of Ljubljana girls and we carved one together. Nice path enlivenment
