It looked like this on Saturday 17.5. The snow might already be gone.

We walked the circular route. Jezerski vrh, Pristovski Storžič, Roblekova planina, Virnik Grintovec. The path to Virnik requires some caution and strength, as it is steep and a bit exposed in places. We also met some hikers here. The largest group was from Raven na Koroškem. We returned via the railway and road to the border crossing, where the car was waiting. Regards.

Yesterday afternoon on Virnik Grintovec. Path without issues, completely dry. Views weren't the best as the highest peaks were in clouds. Short but very nice tour.

Yesterday also visited Virnik Grintovec. Came from the direction of Jezerski vrh via the road over Roblekova planina and then to the top. I was up in the afternoon and the wind already heralded a change in weather. Still not cold. Views very good. Path without issues, usual caution needed on the ridge when crossing to the top. Path snow-free and dry.

Yesterday Virnik Grintovec from Jezersko. Track made, least snow in the last steep part and on the summit ridge. Cold fog in the valley, on top of Grintovec in short sleeves. Intoxicating in every way! Regards.

Hello! after a longer time I'm asking you again for info on this hiking trail: http://hribi.net/izlet/zgornje_jezersko_virnikov_grintovec_/11/314/444 is this path perhaps particularly dangerous in current conditions or will it be fine without issues? how much and what kind of snow can I expect on Saturday afternoon? do you perhaps recommend some other similar peak over 1,500m in Karavanke, maybe in eastern Julian Alps, that should be easier to reach? and I'm not one of those who goes to test if it works or not. if you drive from far, it doesn't make sense. Thanks for help, safe steps in mountains and best regards!

The track is beaten. As long as Matjaž is still healthy it's beaten right after snowfall. In the afternoon the snow will surely rot at these temperatures. If you're in doubt I recommend Bašeljski vrh, and the hut on Kališče is open.

thanks for info. went Saturday afternoon, as I couldn't in the morning/early morning. all OK, interesting path. from saddle Žingerc initially in steepness quite some snow, but manageable up and down without issues. below summit dry. final section between two summits and to main summit heavily snow-covered. so access along very narrow walking option in these south-facing snow conditions very dangerous. tried a bit but turned back - made two steps in between and cut off part of snow (visible on photo) and settled for second summit which is much easier to reach.

Finally caught a nice day and ascended to Virnikov Grintovec. On the dry but steep path met only a larger group of hikers from Vodic.

Today, unplanned, to Virnikov Grintovec, first time. I had actually planned Pristovski Storžič, but at the border crossing everything was parked up, so I preferred to return to Jezersko rather than mess around up at P. Then I remembered this hill and from P at the church or cemetery there was no parking problem. Quite solitary and varied path, well, in the last part around the summit I met quite a few people, among them also "tourists" in sneakers with smooth soles. How they scrambled down through all the dry leaves on the steep slope, I don't understand, even I with good hiking boots went down really carefully and slowly... In the middle section marks and path disappear, you have to go along the forest road, I guessed several times where, but luckily didn't stray. All together it took me two hours, but it felt like three, it was so hot today Although I sweated on the last steep part, the views repay everything, today one could see from Snežnik, Krn to Triglav and everything in between! The larches on the ridge still glowed in the loveliest colors as icing on the cake... On the summit there is also a logbook and a nice stamp with pad. Commendable! In short, I recommend it, but this path is not so easy after all, at least proper footwear is mandatory!
