Virnikov Grintovec

Before Sunday's deterioration on Saturday we chose hills above Jezersko - precisely Virnikov Grintovec. Cloud blanket long persisted over highest peaks of KSA, but finally dispersed so the sun shone. In middle part quite some time walking on road, but during knee-killer to ridge still almost cried a bit for it mežikanje

. Quite a few of us ascended to the summit that day, among others larger group. Returned same path and visited also Žmitkov špic and stopped at Planšarsko jezero for coffee. Today conditions of course completely different.

Zg. Jezersko, at the church I start hiking. Warm weather for short sleeves. At 1100-1200 m there were foresters clearing fallen spruces. Steep part to the ridge without snow. On the ridge stepped on snow a few times, met 3 mountaineers. At the summit short sleeves. Can't imagine walking steep snowy terrain in such heat. Descent same path, at church met priest who greeted me while photographing the church.

On Sunday afternoon I headed to this viewpoint from Jezersko. First snow at Žingerc saddle and in the forest just above it, to the ridge the path is dry. On the ridge there was still quite some snow, at some spots the crossing is also a bit more exposed. Nice weather enabled great views, especially pre-evening ones.
When the snow is hard, winter gear - at least for the mentioned exposed spots - comes in handy. But from today conditions are of course different.

Again a super idea of our mountain rose, we drove to Jezersko. Our goal today Virnik Grintovec, super, three first time, long-time wish. Weather sunny, warm but pleasant. Path through forest, some parts steep but ok... One part old path route changed, now part of logging road. Upper part steepness eases but be careful as always everywhere... Today quite a few visitors, also Litija hikers group. Views wonderful, Košuta ridge, Setiče and Obir, KSA, Storžič and Stegovnik... In short, nice on summit and Jezersko by lake, refreshment and meeting dear guide.

in direction of Češka koča, Ledin, Kamniške...

Today a nice tour to Virnikov Grintovec. The path is steep in some parts and when wet there is a big risk of slipping. On top wonderful views.

Virnikov Grintovec belongs to the small Jezersko transferzalo among others Kozji vrh, Pristovski Storžič, Štegovnik, Veliki vrh, Goli vrh. I hiked all of them in one season a few years ago. Today Škofja Loka retirees-Četrkovci conquered this peak. Well, some preferred the shorter variant. Weather was nice. Path was dry. Actually the path is demanding, perhaps only Pristovski Storžič is more demanding. Start at the border crossing with Austria at Jezerski vrh. Go along forest road through Ankovo planina and Roblekov vrh-1374m, past Roblekova planina-1494m, where there's an abandoned border post at sedlo Žingerc-1345m, from there to the top. In the upper part the path is steep and extremely steep. 1654 m high peak rewards with views all around. At the top there's a box with a stamp. We went back by another path.

We started at the border crossing to Austria on Jezerski vrh.

We had a beautiful morning and view of the nearby peaks.

Roblekova planina is on the Austrian side.

This is the Žingarc saddle -1345m. Here we turn left towards Virnikov Grintovec.

There is a bench at the saddle for resting.

Here we part ways - a quarter of the hikers go left down the forest road.

The others take the demanding path towards Virnikov Grintovec.

Then through numerous switchbacks and roots.

Gasilska at the summit of Virnikov Grintovec.

All around we can admire the nearer peaks on our side and the Austrian side.

Stop at the mineral water and then to Planšarsko jezero for schnapps and veal stew.

you were surprised because the mountain name is wrongly written here. NOT Grintavec, but Grintovec. Virnikov Grintovec. Here is the forum with the correct name and of course quite a few posts:

@skala123, nice photos. We met when we were already descending. For us it was the second visit to this really wonderfully panoramic peak, and we noted that the path is steeper than almost thirteen years ago mežikanje

Yesterday, both of us for the first time on Virnikov Grintovec.
We went up the normal route, down the steep western ridge, which requires caution and a sense of orientation. From the ridge we descended at the GRS training center. We rounded off the tour above Murn, and along the way we also detoured to Žmitkov špic, which is a really pleasant viewpoint. The showers spared us. Safe travels!

Yesterday to Virnikov Grintovec from a different starting point than usual, which had been planned for some time but hadn't happened nasmeh

. I'd say magnificent, spacious peak with really nice views of the surroundings! On the way back we met Matjaž, who is a legend of these Jezersko parts nasmeh
