It's really interesting that we all want the same. Namely that it would be arranged here like with neighbors , where mountain biker is respected guest and not almost criminal like here.

GregorC - "all"? Hey, I don't want it like with neighbors at all. To me Slovenia seems best and most beautiful. Not even annoyances who always want it only their way bother me.

Go all to neighbors there everything is best anyway. Then I can go to hut for ričet and four paws can be under table too. Now you others bring so much money to hut that they grumble at mine because it smells of dog

Slovenes are really some models. Instead of showing due respect to cyclists (yes, respect. Not many mountaineers are able in winter to drag bike to Viševnik, then ride down safely), we yap on forums what is allowed and what not. Remarks on nature preservation are the funniest. Cars as high as they go, helicopters supplying huts with alcohol, caravans of foot hikers... Where is nature preservation here? When they wanted to protect part of Križna Cave (of course the question is for whom, if nobody can see it), they CLOSED IT TO ALL. In our case, analogously, TNP would have to close it to hikers too . By what key do foot hikers have priority to everything? Natural environment is common good, all users have right to life in it, which must be properly regulated and not abused. Cyclists must respect their touring bike code, touring skiers, motorbikers, paragliders, kiteflyers, climbers, canyoneers, rafters, etc. Those who can't do that don't belong in the hills or natural environment. When we start coexisting with respect for each other, all conflicts will vanish. But what, when it's almost impossible.... PS: what about when a kid jumps in front of an almost silent touring skier ? No hard feelings, I can't without a bit of provocation... I'm a hiker, mountain biker and also touring skier

My husband and I are practically every weekend in the hills (if the weather allows) and we don't meet cyclists on our paths in the mid-mountain and high-mountain areas even so many as to be worth mentioning them. They are really a rarity or exception, so I don't understand at all where some impatient people walk that cyclists bother them so much. As klo8 wrote, those cyclists who are prepared to carry a bike to Viševnik or somewhere else so high certainly don't race downhill - we haven't encountered such a one in all the years of enjoying high-mountain or mid-mountain nature. As tine.sl already wrote, those two cyclists destroyed the snow for several years ahead... Nature reshapes itself with avalanches, earthquakes etc., and that, I think, much more so than a single cyclist who appears here and there can. Perhaps the problem is that for some hiker who is panting uphill or whose knees are already bothering him downhill, it is too much to make an extra step aside to let the unsuspecting, satisfied and smiling cyclist pass? More mutual tolerance, and it will be nicer for all of us; there is space under the sun for everyone!

We've come so far that we lubricate the chain with environmentally friendly lubricants and have environmentally friendly brake pads on the brakes as well.

Great proof, urbe, that we can coexist in nature as well as anywhere else: pedestrians, hikers, cyclists, ski tourers, snowshoers... we just shouldn't be impatient with each other

Hi. I'm curious about the conditions on Viševnik, planning to go up this weekend with my colleague. We have crampons, we've been to Viševnik before but not in winter. Is the route suitable for an average hillwalker?

@Koruzadr sometimes we mess up the current conditions a bit. Click on page 41 and read @opazovalca was up there on Saturday. Viševnik is fine for average hillwalkers, but you can always turn back if the feeling isn't right.

Lots of snow on Viševnik.Ski track laid out, along it even pedestrians made it to the top, but snowshoes are highly recommended for them.
