Yesterday did a nice loop above Pokljuka. Since I always like to explore, I walked a lot on pathless terrain and except for a snake and a chamois I didn't meet anyone.

ROUTE: Rudno polje, Kačji rob, Srenjski preval, Mali Draški vrh, ridge crossing, pathless to Veliki Draški vrh, return via transverse path below MDV to Srenjski preval, Viševnik, along the ridge to Kačji rob, Rudno polje.

All paths are dry, but I like pathless the most. nasmeh

Yesterday we walked a nice circular path. Started at Rudno polje and continued to Studorski preval. From there to Ablanca then descent back to the pass and continued to Veliki Draški vrh. From there under Mali Draški vrh to Srenjski preval. Then to Mali Draški vrh. Descent back to the pass and via Kačji rob back to the start. The tour is nice and offers great views. The path to Ablanca and Mali Draški vrh is very crumbly, great caution needed (helmet mandatory). On the summit we enjoyed solitude, towards Triglav there was a crowd of hikers.

The signpost directs us towards Studorski preval.

Today in wonderful weather from Rudno polje via Studorski preval to VDV, descent under MDV to Srenjski preval, then MDV and via Viševnik to start. Conditions ideal, warm, no wind, hikers everywhere. Biggest crowd as usual on Viševnik.

I noticed in the posts that some of you don't descend from VDV to Srenjski preval and then to MDV, but do it directly along the ridge. I'm interested in how demanding this ridge between VDV and MDV is?

On guided tours from MDV to VDV, at this point guides usually belay participants with a rope during descent.

Yesterday I went along the path Rudno polje-Studorski preval-Ablanca-VDV-MDV--Srenjski preval-Viševnik. First time along the ridge to MDV, usually I walked below MDV and then climbed up to it from Srenjski.
On the saddle between the two DV you go nicely up the grass, slightly to the right leads a trodden path under the summit. The path is followable and soon you reach rocks where you find passages, they seemed nice and logical to me, a bit of orientation and you're good nasmeh

I'll surely return, this ridge is nice nasmeh

down the avalanche gully from MDV to Srenjski preval and further to Viševnik, and to the starting point...

I'm sure the sequence of peaks you took is the right one. Actually only that little bit of path before the MDV summit is a bit more demanding and that's why it's best to ascend there.

After snowfall the weather stabilized, actually snow here was almost gone already 1 week ago, so now it's probably completely dry. Last Friday there was still 1 "sticky" spot and ice axe was quite useful there, but already same day a bit later wouldn't need it anymore.

Today we wandered these areas, morning started in light dew. Good we didn't leave LJ too early, … so around 8 we started walking. Rudno polje-Studorski preval-Ablanca-VDV-MDV-Srenjski preval-Viševnik. Met one just before Studorski preval, and that's it to Viševnik. Weather then before VDV as ordered, sun and so on both later peaks. Simply good choice today, … tour analysis over coffee

Wind calmed down, sunny days continue, snow though...deeper into winter we go, the less there is... mrk pogled

Ablanca a bit annoying, since due to shady position those rare snow patches can be icy. VDV without major peculiarities, ridge to MDV though...in the end we skip zadrega

Yesterday I went to Viševnik and MDV (eastern summit), then back the same path. Snow on most of the path, some dry sections only right below Viševnik summit.

To Viševnik the path is well trodden. Ahead of me one walked quite a while without crampons or spikes and it didn't look like slipping (had poles though). Most had crampons.

From Viševnik to Srenjski preval the path is much less trodden, just footprints of some people. On sunny side snow compact (top layer was crusty, since I walked around noon on sunny day), on shady side much softer. From Srenjski preval to start of ascent to MDV only animal tracks. Snow soft here too.

On path to MDV well trodden footprints. Top snow layer crusty, below harder snow. Lower layer barely held my weight, sank in places. Earlier top layer would be frozen and probably easier.
