I would ask for an answer if for any variant of this tour (Ponca-Strug-Vevnica-Zagače or reverse) that includes Via della Vita it is necessary to have crampons/ice axe because of some dangerous snowfield?

Path over MKM I walked a few days ago. The path is marked with very faded dots, which you easily miss. It led a well visible gully towards MKM. In fog the whole thing is hard to manage. No snowfield, but full of scree and the steepness is quite substantial. Protections are useful. The harder spot is mainly a few-meter chimney, where with the vertical cable you don't have much help. The cable is actually poorly usable because it's not thick enough (similar to the one at the entrance to Via della Vita)! Usually cables where you need to lift up along them are thicker!

Which weather forecasts are the most competent and which ones do you rely on the most when planning tours (especially for these ridge crossings)?
Are they hribi.net, vreme.net or some other?
For now it looks like this Saturday 27.8. isn't very promising? mrk pogled

Today's day, which started already yesterday at Zacchi hut, was completely in the sign of laughter velik nasmeh

...this morning we started in the order Via della Vita-Vevnica-Strug-Ponca and then descended via ferrata back to the hut...about the path itself I wouldn't write anything new, as my predecessors did excellent work mežikanje

...for me the path that started with warming up on Via della Vita and then continued with crazy ridge traverse and adrenaline descent was super, very pleasant and varied...no views today, at the end a light shower refreshed us, but the day was excellent nasmeh

After almost two years it was necessary to repeat the tour and check the conditions on the already described path above. No significant changes, I would just mention the start of the Via della vita ferrata, which was already mentioned on the forum, but anyway. The fixed cable or according to the (alleged) new terminology wire rope is torn and offers no assistance when ascending the wall. And the tour was even more solitary this time... we met only two mountaineers.

On Thursday we went with a colleague from Upper Klanško Lake to Zacchi hut, then some 100 m along the road which they are renovating again zavijanje z očmi

, then left towards the long screes under Strug. Somehow we reached the snow, then found passages over the short wall, ice axe is very useful, and via the former secured path (Via Kugy) to Strug saddle and then to the summit. Then we returned to the saddle and over Rear and Middle Ponca to High Ponca, and descended via ferrata to the hut, where we drank a well-deserved beer.

Thanks Igor for the tips. On Saturday I also did this tour. Kugy paths almost no one knows, so it was deserted. Up on the ridge though there was already quite a crowd for those ends. Very nice tour! nasmeh

Today from Tamar to Srednja Ponca. Then enjoyment along the ridge not too sunlit velik nasmeh

to Strug. Then I returned and climbed also to Visoka Ponca and then back to Tamar and to Planica to the car. Early morning it was still quite nice up there, then gradually everything started to wrap in fog. The ridge path is still beautiful mežikanje

. Due to all this wetness, a lot of caution was needed on descent. Cheers!
