jezenOh, you're such a big whiner.zmedenOnce cows, next road, and if you'd want to put cables. As for sleeping at Stanič, they've seen what kind of penance they'd deal with, so they rather rushed you down to the valley.velik nasmeh

Hm, the road to Kot is really a disaster, why shouldn't one criticize it.

@SunBurned: obviously some don't read my posts well and can't wait to write something, maybe nonsense. They're already frustrated there was no hook this time to hang on to and bark about for another 3-4 pages, so Tadej would have to open a new section again. zavijanje z očmi

Ah, and one good thing of Austrian commercialism is that they'll really accept anyone as a guest regardless of circumstances. Money is money. Though I don't believe they at Stanič knew they were dealing with VanSims himself, about whom they might have read on hribi.net. velik nasmeh mežikanje

Yesterday my wife and I joined their group of experienced hikers on the invitation of Ljubljana and Gorenjska friends, and we headed together from Kot to the Vrban Spires via Lojze Rekar's path.
The path to the forest edge is quite nasty, as you need to cross some sloped smooth slabs that despite nice weather were wet and muddy from hikers' boots and quite slippery. In the continuation, the path is easy to the entry towards the Vrban Spires.
The path to the Vrban Spires itself is quite interesting and varied. In the first part it runs over steep grass, where there is a lot of loosened soil with stones and you need to watch that those below don't get stone projectiles. To the Lower Vrban Spire the path goes mostly upwards and is quite well protected. Then you need to return a bit and bypass it on the right side along the jammed ledge. Follows the descent to the notch, which is demanding at some places since there are only pegs or none and you need to climb down over crumbly and shaky stone steps, so you need to be careful as some parts are also quite exposed.
When our group of fifteen members descends into the notch, a similar group of Czech hikers descends from the High Vrban Spire, but they progressed very slowly. When we met, we noticed they were otherwise quite well equipped, but some of them had considerable problems with the unprotected descent into the notch. The girl somewhat above me was quite scared and first sent me a stone greeting that flew between my legs, and after her clumsy stepping over I already feared she would fly towards me too and that I would have too little space between my legs for it all to end happily at least for me.
After the quite demanding path, the summit of the High Vrban Spire is very welcoming. After a long stop at Stanič, we head back to the valley where we again run into the girl from that Czech group who staggers along the road from Kot with a bleeding nose. With a slight hand raise she signals the car from our group that she needs help. When she put down the heavy backpack in the trunk, it was seen that she could barely stand on her feet as she almost fell to the ground.
What is most horrible is that her friends left her alone behind and waited for her some three kilometers ahead and even found it funny when she got out of the car. Such people I will never understand.

Let me also praise the photos posted by predecessors. Unfortunately I haven't managed to visit these beautiful peaks yet. Usually I don't ask for comparisons since everyone has a different view, but for a colleague I'm asking the following: is Lojze Rekar's path compared to Kopiščarjeva on Prisojnik easier or harder?

Thanks.

The difference between Kopiščarjeva and Vrbanove špice is that with the first you only ascend which is somewhat easier for most hikers. With Vrbanove however you also have sections going downhill which are poorly secured in places or not at all and exactly those sections make this path harder than it would be otherwise. Otherwise it doesn't have such a dizzying chimney section as Kopiščarjeva but as a whole I would rank it similarly to Kopiščarjeva precisely because of its variety. You must be skilled also in moving downhill on harder terrain and not just uphill.

I went last year via Kopiščarjeva to Prisank and it's true that it's quite steep and in my opinion a bit more demanding. Already the start to the climbing part is quite tough, then just upwards. In the window something is always happening. Helmet absolutely necessary. Rekarjeva is more varied and in nice weather serves up wonderful views. For comparison 3 from Kopiščarjeva and 3 from Rekarjeva.

In my assessment (walked both): Rekarjeva harder than Kopiščarjeva. nasmeh Of course under normal weather conditions and without snow.

I agree with panda. On Kopiščarjeva there's only one more demanding part - Chimney and narrow ledge, across Vrbanove špice however the path is demanding throughout and even more scree on the path - of course this is personal opinion.
