So ice axe and crampons for safe crossing? Or can you go around by chance?

You can get across nicely without. But it's easier to go at the start on snow far right 5 meters and past those little rocks. On the left side there's snow all the way to smooth rocks.

Yesterday on Vrban Spires via Lojze Rekar path. Snow patch above big stone can be crossed without problem with some caution. Nice tour which we'll surely repeat

silvo1952, your photos brought back memories of this beautiful path hiked years ago. On pic 36 you shot leafless or barren-stem speedwell (Veronica aphylla). Many more nice mountain visits to you!

Thanks. Attaching another pic, don't know the flower's name. Looking at mountain flowers, I realize botanists and gardeners bred loads of perennials from them that we plant in gardens.

silvo1952, nice that you're interested in what flower you meet on the path; it's creeping gypsophila. lp

Silvo1952, in photo 35 it's probably the snow marmot and not the Triglav one. Both are found in the high mountains. Regards

Maybe it's easier to determine if it's the Triglav marmot or the snow marmot by looking at both shots.

Rosettes from which the flower sprouts are characteristic of the Triglav gentian, as seen on the attached photo. So it's the snow gentian.

I agree with Primož; climate change is taking them, but I think a huge part is also done by all those who always look for shortcuts, some racetracks on scree where there's an equipped path. And the equipped one gets buried and we have a "find your way" path.

"In general, paths in the high mountains are slowly being taken by climate change." can you elaborate on this statement or show the causation between climate change and the condition of high mountain paths. which article or literature are you basing it on? thanks

"In a sandbox you make a little path. Then you pour water on it drop by drop, or in quick splashes. Then you see when the little path collapses." scree are not rocks. "Another thing that affects is warmer winters and more melting. This bursts rocks. Because there's more freezing of water in cracks." mechanical weathering could be a reason in your entire mess - one of many; given that, say, the earth's crust shakes every now and then, how do you know that the effect of climate change is higher than a regular earthquake? why didn't you mention earthquakes and the other 1001 reasons for worse path conditions? because it's easiest to get likes through #ECO nowadays and pump your ego that way, or are you so ignorant that you don't see other reasons? and the composition of Appalachians and Julians is different. you can't extrapolate an article about apples to pears. do you actually have any source on the impact of climate change on the condition of Slovenian paths, or are you just pulling crap out of your ass?
