@jbs - you recommend reporting to the police. Have the police ever caught anyone marking like that? Did they send a van into the mountains? Or is the point just in reporting and then we're all happy because we did what we could?

I won't add fuel to the fire... I think someone just marked the path so they won't forget it next time... but it's worth thinking for all such that insurance doesn't cover "damage" in case of accident on unmarked paths... so go ahead wherever you want... mother nature will charge you the toll...

They know it's not right, but they do it because it suits them and they care little for others - they don't realize that in the long run they harm themselves too... We see such behavior everywhere, not just in the mountains..

Ninđa @marks or signs - circles and lines, there are many, all the way to the top, maybe only at the very beginning by the trig point there are none... I was surprised by this colorful mess

President of the local PD? You can't believe it. Maybe "his" guides need a "marked" path to lead on "pathless terrain". Finally I'll believe what some have been saying all along, that pathless routes shouldn't be published online.

Well, it is logical after all if you publish your "own" pathless routes on the net, you'll attract repeaters. And they'll mark the path for next time each in their own way, some with cairns, others with colorful smearing. I keep every unvisited little path I discover to myself.

Mr. Stritar and Mr. Habjan responded nicely a few years ago regarding Kalška gora (in the comments of this article: Illegal marking) to direct accusations against them regarding popularizing pathless routes with their guidebooks. To summarize: Records of pathless routes are published to show others the beauties of these places too. If it motivates someone for pathless exploration, there's nothing wrong with that, as no one can egoistically own our country. That someone marks a pathless route like this is a matter of behavior or culture and moreover illegal. We can perhaps "blame" the records of pathless routes for them being more trodden, but not for the smearing on them. That's due to lack of upbringing.

Fak. But if you're constipated and can't "shit", do you call the police or rather go to the doctor. What criminal act was committed if someone smeared a few rocks. Before such bickering, better read the Hiking Trails Act and whose authority is supervision over it. The response of inspection services is known in advance, namely that in this case it's not a hiking trail since it's not marked anywhere, but pathless terrain. No marking section takes care of such paths (pathless), so it's in no one's care and no one should take offense. Except the landowner. The owner can also prohibit or physically block passage through the land. etc etc lp Robert Ternik

But then cairns shouldn't be built either? My opinion is that because of a few "smears" on rocks there won't be any more hikers on this path than before. Really pointless to get so upset.

Yes, if it's pointless to get upset, then next time we'll go "mark" on anč's.

Ma'am, can we make a marking on your cherry tree? Yes, you can; I just don't know if I'll always be home.

Yes that would be a good idea; a couple of markings on the house corners and a few more on the fence and on the fruit trees But it seems to me there wouldn't be anywhere to draw...

PD Tržič is outraged by the act, our guides don't need markings, definitely this matter needs to be cleaned up, and if the one who did this is reading, I tell him to stay in the valley and never come to the mountains again, not to our parts nor anywhere else.

What remains of the pathless route if you mark it? Isn't the charm exactly in finding the passages yourself (at least a little, many pathless routes have turned into unmarked paths), getting a bit lost and finding again...

Searches are an important part of my paths to the mountains. Searching for paths, new summits, ultimately for oneself too. That's why I love the lines from Pavček's "When you walk, always go to the end", which at the end say: "But if you don't get there the first time nor the second to the right shelter and true mettle, try again and again and again". The goal does not justify the means, spraying is mildly put a lack of tact. Those who do it are certainly not of true mettle.

@tinky congratulations and thanks for the excellent news. May the pathless routes (especially dear to my heart) remain pathless. Best, Nino
