Franci, how beautiful this gladiolus (Gladiolus) is, probably the marsh one. Or Illyrian??nasmeh

Apolonija, what is actually the difference between the two? As much as I looked, I only found the difference in the sheath around the corm, the marsh one has netted, the Illyrian one from parallel fibers. What about more noticeable differences on the plant? What about leaf width: the Illyrian has narrower or not? Or something else? zmeden

I just found a quite in-depth presentation of gladioli in Slovenia, in the attachment - author's name not visible, but definitely a botanist judging by the text. http://www.rtvslo.si/modload.php?&c_mod=blog&op=func&func=print&c_menu=92125
From this I would say that the one seen on Šmarna gora was the Illyrian gladiolus, just like probably on Kamniški vrh also Illyrian, since the marsh one is still very very rare. velik nasmehnasmeh

Zlatica, I have already read that and it's good that you posted it, so everyone interested will see it. Which of these two it is, would be hard to decide just from the picture. But if you imagine that the flowers are not quite in one row, although there are few, and if you consider what you mentioned, it is really more certainly the Illyrian one. nasmeh

In the mountains snow melts quickly and first flowers have already peeked from rocks, you can't believe that almost from pure stone such beautiful flowers grow. The path led me from Krma to Staničeva koča and back and I had something to see. The first yellow one is similar to Obir's pasqueflower, just not sure, so help welcome.

Otiv, you've really worn yourself outcool, and we're only at the beginning of the season! What will your fitness be like in August?!velik nasmeh That pasqueflower of yours is gorgeous and everything suggests it's the Obir one, and the other little flowers are tempting too! lp

There's always enough energy for flowers, just lately the dentist drains some of it from me. velik nasmeh

Flowers from yesterday's ramble on Mala and Velika Planina. I was a bit surprised as there weren't flowers aplenty, mainly whole patches of zlatica stood out, which this time gave their yellow mark to the Planina. But cows reigned everywhere instead...and fattened on good grazing. lp velik nasmeh
Is it or isn't it Fuchs's finger orchid? It has a slightly different pattern.1

Still you found many other plants.
Definitely Fuchs's orchid. Spotted could also come into consideration, but as you know it has smaller notches between the lower leaflets. But.....but your three-toothed orchid has tooth problems like Otiv. They rotted on her. Let me comfort you: they haven't grown on her yet because it's a toothless orchid.nasmeh
