Slowly and steadily mountain nature closes the flowering curtain; already preparing for rest and cold white blanket? But warm sun and solitude on the mountain path still tempt me, even if only late gentians, chalice flowers, autumn hawkbits greet me.... Never mind; hoping that next spring nature will gift us beautiful flowers again, I tread this mountain world which is beautiful in autumn too.

Two days on Triglav behind me. This year I haven't encountered Triglav gentian at all. Really on a guided tour you don't have so much time for observing. Others didn't notice it either. But there are still plenty of other flowers from Zois bellflower to edelweiss.

Now is the time of čašastega sviščevec. They had only one flower each. I should take Flora Alpina in hand again to look at sviščevci.

The Julijski mak shone a bit too much in Triglav's sun for me.

Only in Krma did I spot resasti sviščevec.

Branko, congrats on Triglav tour, nice alpine campion you brought us, otherwise time for flowers is really running out even in such high mountains.
Although yesterday on my trip to Srednji vrh above Zelenica there were no blooming specialties, and I didn't have macro lens with me, I still show you some little flowers captured by my lens. Among them is also (at least to me) angelica; and Otiv, to your question from a day or two ago about difference between one and other root, I think officially it's just common forest root - home-style angelica, healing one sometimes added because it's a medicinal flower. If I don't have right info, corrections welcome. Otherwise I have some guesses about my eternal gentians that always spark lots of interest. regards nasmeh

Well, first about angelica. Genus angelica (Angelica) has about 60 different species. In our nature grows common angelica (A.officinalis) - similar to peonies, as common peony (Paeonia officinalis) grows on Karst - but in gardens they grow "cultivated" garden angelica called archangelica (A. archangelica). This contains more medicinal substances than common and is used for medicinal purposes. Forest angelica (A.sylvestris) is a species apart. Supposedly used also as spice.

Not at all, just on guided tours not easy opportunities for more flower photos. Currently actively searching for Triglav gentian and can't find it. Maybe see it Saturday on Mangart.
