Brane, very nice flower pics although from lower altitude than usual. -I read that the aberrant bellflower differs from two similar ones by stamen length, which are very short. Yours turns away and stamens are not visible. -another remark, maybe welcome, maybe unnecessary: When learning ornamental plants I learned /well, already in school/ what is family, genus, species, variety. At 5. you say naming species grabljišče because you don't know the variety. Actually you named genus "Knautia", species would be "field, forest, Hungarian, Macedonian, Illyrian, long-leaved...". Perennial from teasel family. This is sometimes important for searching.

I did mix genus and species a bit. Will be more careful in future. Tomorrow to Vogel then to Spodnja Komna looking for gentian. Said already blooming - that one blooming earlier. L.P. Of small bellflowers only this one was there.

I haven't been to Vogel even in winter, although we often had skis with us, but it happened that we stayed in Srednja vas and skied a bit only on Senožeti.

If you photograph the yellow gentian, you'll surely also photograph the red Pannonian one.

I know the Pannonian one well, I know it blooms last, then chalice and hairy gentianella and silky-leaved gentian follow – acquaintance of our forests.

The effort was worth it. You even found a blooming rapontic. You really have luck with albinos, or rather you're a very good observer. So this is fraternal potentilla, because it has fused stamens and pointed corolla leaves.? I thought the storm got you.

This year the weather in the mountains changes very quickly. The sun shines and suddenly the rain pours. It was no different this time. It rained on me for more than two hours. It started half an hour before the hut on Komna and to Savica. I barely managed to protect the backpack and put on rain gear. Today I continue with the further presentation of flowers from the tour.

Brane, in the mountains the weather always changes quickly and the forecast was also worse for the afternoon for the Julians, so you got away quite well, if I can say so. Surprisingly, yesterday during the passage of the cold front there was no thunder, at least not in Ljubljana. Otherwise it wouldn't have been too nice on the tour. You probably forgot about the weather with all the flowers and enjoyed as much as possible. Best regards!

Brane, if I start from the end: your unknown campion is the inedible stinking elder /Sambucus ebulus/. The beautiful white cushion can remind you of catchfly, as it's its relative, it's saxifrage campion /Silene saxifraga/. I didn't know the cat's-ear. Is the one-styled hawkweed a synonym for the feathered one? How do you know it's not Rhaetian poppy? What if it's not tender, but blue-green saxifrage? And not homul, but evergreen /aizoides/? Regards

What if not tender, but tufted?

I have already encountered stinking elder, even recently by the road in Stara Fužina. I have seen saxifrage campion, just not so cutely grown. I can't distinguish pink hawkweeds yet. Veleglava cat's-ear is rare. I found it exclusively only here under the Vogel Hut. It looks like a miniature hawkweed. At the top of the stem there are usually several flowers. The color is more intensely muted purple. I know that in the Julians we find two yellow poppies - Rhaetian and Petkovšek's. Petkovšek's is taller and replaces the Rhaetian in the Krn Mountains. Kerner's is supposed to be limited to Karavanke and KSA, if I'm correctly informed. I'll look a bit more at these poppies and their sites. It's not tufted saxifrage, because tufted has different flowers. I think I haven't seen it blooming this year yet, only those small buds. Here besides evergreen and encrusted there was only this one and on huge sites already from the top of Žagarjev graben to the end of the path at Lower Komna. I didn't notice others.

Thanks, Brane for the reply. Slip of the tongue, I meant the Rhaetian one. Oh, these saxifrages! I'm in a hurry. Regards

Vito, nice photos, suitable for magazines. Plants powerfully step into the foreground in all their beauty. Where did you take them? 7, 12-glaucous hawkweed /Hieracium glaucum/? 18, 31, 32 blue-green saxifrage 19 100% alpine azalea 21 mountain avens 23, 41 alpine catchfly /silene alpestris/ 25, 26 goldenrod 60 marmot it is, of course, but which...Triglav one? 62, 65 I think it's snow dock (Rumex nivalis) 66 only a bit of the leaf visible - maybe mountain spike? 67 flower of pink mountain sorrel? Brane mentioned the other day he's going to Črna prst today. Can expect edelweiss and alpine cudweed and...Lp
