Which flower is this?

velkavrh28. 07. 2013 14:03:13
I returned from an extended weekend from Kranjska Gora. Among other things, we were with the grandkids also in Tamar. Nature is very thirsty, which shows strongly in the vegetation too.
Common broom.1
Forest loosestrife.2
Horse mane.3
Rough-leaved hawkweed.4
For flowers whose exact species I don't know, I indicate only the genus - cotoneaster.5
Common viper's bugloss.6
Stable broom.7
Soft sedge.8
Clustered bellflower.9
Narrow-lobed lady's mantle.10
True honey plant - smells like honey - some collect it for tea.11
Common knapweed.12
This should be the monstrous bellflower, but I have no leaves for proof.13
Repnjak flower.14
Dimka flower.15
The leaves are like this; now to identify the species? Since the leaves are pinnately compound, it's the alpine one.16
Flower of the alpine thistle.17
Gentians are a chapter unto themselves. This is supposed to be the single-scaled one. I know that to determine the variety, the leaves and the area under the flower also need to be photographed.18
Is this really the kranjski gentian?19
This could be the common or feathery gentian - all three grew near the hut in Tamar.20

Brane, very nice flower pics although from lower altitude than usual.
-I read that the aberrant bellflower differs from two similar ones by stamen length, which are very short. Yours turns away and stamens are not visible.
-another remark, maybe welcome, maybe unnecessary: When learning ornamental plants I learned /well, already in school/ what is family, genus, species, variety. At 5. you say naming species grabljišče because you don't know the variety. Actually you named genus "Knautia", species would be "field, forest, Hungarian, Macedonian, Illyrian, long-leaved...". Perennial from teasel family. This is sometimes important for searching.nasmeh

I did mix genus and species a bit. Will be more careful in future. Tomorrow to Vogel then to Spodnja Komna looking for gentian. Said already blooming - that one blooming earlier. L.P.

Of small bellflowers only this one was there.

I haven't been to Vogel even in winter, although we often had skis with us, but it happened that we stayed in Srednja vas and skied a bit only on Senožeti.

If you photograph the yellow gentian, you'll surely also photograph the red Pannonian one.

Today on a full-day tour through Žagarjev graben to the Vogel ski slopes, then to Vogel mountain – 1922 m – and through Spodnja Komna valley.
Rocky cinquefoil is also here.1
Common bloody cranesbill in Žagarjev graben.2
Sharp-leaved mallow,3
Plane-leaved globeflower.4
On Vogla ski slopes there are even stands of common andromeda.5
Clasping-leaved cinquefoil.6
Golden dryad I find everywhere.7
Mountain goldenrod.8
Shining cinquefoil.9
Pot-bellied bellflower.10
Zois' bellflowers are almost over.11
Below Vogel summit I find edelweiss - they are not common here.12
From Vogel summit onwards there is a lot of Pyrenean houseleek.13
I find white alpine rampion.14
The sign lists Austrian hogweed-Heracleum austriacum subsp. siifolium.15
These are its leaves.16
Triglav rose.17
Now the three highlights of today's tour - Relikan's (black) murka right below Vogel summit.18
Flower of rampion.19
I found its habitat on the path to Spodnja Komna.20
Here I also find flowering košutnik - bratinski svišč. First time I encounter it on the pasture below Bohinjski Migovec, but they were already over.21
Košutnik flower. Before Govnač pasture it turns to the path to Dom na Komni. Soon I find several unflowered košutniks. In the end reward for effort - also flowering ones.22

The effort was worth it. You even found a blooming rapontic. You really have luck with albinos, or rather you're a very good observer. So this is fraternal potentilla, because it has fused stamens and pointed corolla leaves.? I thought the storm got you.

This year the weather in the mountains changes very quickly. The sun shines and suddenly the rain pours. It was no different this time. It rained on me for more than two hours. It started half an hour before the hut on Komna and to Savica. I barely managed to protect the backpack and put on rain gear. Today I continue with the further presentation of flowers from the tour.

Brane, in the mountains the weather always changes quickly and the forecast was also worse for the afternoon for the Julians, so you got away quite well, if I can say so. Surprisingly, yesterday during the passage of the cold front there was no thunder, at least not in Ljubljana. Otherwise it wouldn't have been too nice on the tour. You probably forgot about the weather with all the flowers and enjoyed as much as possible.nasmeh
Best regards!

Yes, before the rain I experienced the highlight of the flower tour, so I even welcomed the rain. Until then the weather was ideal. Now I continue with the flowers from the tour.
This is the white alpine thistle.1
In between I even find forest strawberries.2
Hairy dead-nettle.3
Mountain wormwood.4
Pale trefoil.5
Headed leopard's-bane.6
Bright green rock-rose.7
These should be the nicest flowers of Vogel.8
Sieber's leopard's-bane flowers are similar to the headed one, only the headed one grows on a tall stem.9
Among the low bellflowers, besides the pot-bellied and rare Zois's, this one was present everywhere. I'm not sure which one it is.10
There is a lot of this rock-rose on the entire path - it should be the blue-green one.11
I still have trouble with the rock-roses.12
Here the characteristic leaves are clearly visible.13
Many-flowered hawkweed.14
In certain areas it really smelled of these carnations. These are Sterbberg carnations. There is only one flower per stem. At higher altitudes it replaces the Montpellier one, which has several flowers per stem.15
Julian gentian.16
Green hellebore.17
Mountain avens.18
Carniolan lily.19
Rhaetian poppy.20
Rock-jasmine - the area under the flower is clearly visible. This is the pinnate rock-jasmine.21
Alpine forget-me-not.22
Heart-leaved helleborine.23
Of the louseworts these two were found - the whorled lousewort.24
Capitate lousewort.25
The big-headed hawkweed is rarer - I always find it under the Komna hut. We also have the heterophyllous one - only on the Karst, and the dyeing one which has more capitula in the inflorescence - at least five. The big-headed grows higher.26
In the rocks of Žagarjev graben I found this cute tuft of white.27
This is its flower. It resembles the lady's slipper flower. It is the rock catchfly.28
I don't know this tall kobulnica either - over a meter. It also grew at the start of Žagarjev graben. It is the stinking hellebore.29
This is its flower. I found more yellow flowers - hawkweeds or others that I will examine a bit more.30

Brane, if I start from the end: your unknown campion is the inedible stinking elder /Sambucus ebulus/.
The beautiful white cushion can remind you of catchfly, as it's its relative, it's saxifrage campion /Silene saxifraga/. I didn't know the cat's-ear.
Is the one-styled hawkweed a synonym for the feathered one?
How do you know it's not Rhaetian poppy?
What if it's not tender, but blue-green saxifrage? And not homul, but evergreen /aizoides/? Regardsnasmeh

velkavrh30. 07. 2013 10:55:55
I have already encountered stinking elder, even recently by the road in Stara Fužina.

I have seen saxifrage campion, just not so cutely grown.

I can't distinguish pink hawkweeds yet.

Veleglava cat's-ear is rare. I found it exclusively only here under the Vogel Hut. It looks like a miniature hawkweed. At the top of the stem there are usually several flowers. The color is more intensely muted purple.

I know that in the Julians we find two yellow poppies - Rhaetian and Petkovšek's. Petkovšek's is taller and replaces the Rhaetian in the Krn Mountains. Kerner's is supposed to be limited to Karavanke and KSA, if I'm correctly informed. I'll look a bit more at these poppies and their sites.

It's not tufted saxifrage, because tufted has different flowers. I think I haven't seen it blooming this year yet, only those small buds. Here besides evergreen and encrusted there was only this one and on huge sites already from the top of Žagarjev graben to the end of the path at Lower Komna. I didn't notice others.

These are the cushions of the moss campion.1
Here it is already in flower.2
Here are the shots from yesterday.3
The flowers themselves are essentially whiter and these white petals are more joined and the flower's throat is more greenish.4
I conclude that it is the bluish-green one.5
The bluish-green one is very common, as is the crusty one. Host's however prefers cool shady spots.6

Vito, nice photos, suitable for magazines. Plants powerfully step into the foreground in all their beauty. Where did you take them?
7, 12-glaucous hawkweed /Hieracium glaucum/?
18, 31, 32 blue-green saxifrage
19 100% alpine azalea
21 mountain avens
23, 41 alpine catchfly /silene alpestris/
25, 26 goldenrod

Good day! I was informed that alpine edelweiss flowering can be expected only around 10th August and then I'll really go again to Črna prst. Tomorrow climbing Krn, today from bivouac to bivouac under Kočna, under Grintavec.
Repična preobjeda.1
High in the rocks of Grdega grabna - close-up - tufted bellflower.2
I find edelweiss along the entire path.3
Creeping baby's-breath4
Flower of creeping baby's-breath.5
Kamnik gentian - I found it here under the bivouac below Grintavec.6
We recognize it by its characteristic leaves.7
Zois' bellflower right at the bivouac below Kočna. Mostly they have already wilted.8
In the shade hide the two-flowered violets.9
Julian flax.10
There is quite a lot of shining sandwort.11
Many-flowered dryad.12
Who nods so pleasantly with their pink color.13
Capitate lousewort. I also found the elongated and spindle one.14
Naked alumroot.15
Many-flowered hawkweed.16
Alpine catchfly.17
Flower of the alpine thistle.18
I tried - it's really a thistle.19
Svišč (small).20
I think it's not the spring one!21
Kerner's poppy.22
Now rockjasmins are next - shaggy ones, there are huge numbers - most common.23
The round-leaved rockjasmine is also still hiding.24
These two grew almost together. Conditions looked the same. This one is evergreen.25
The same applies to the evergreen one - we recognize it because the sepals are longer than the petals.26
Comparison of both.27
The starry rockjasmine I always find around the bivouac under Grintavec. The scaly one I find everywhere.28
Every year I find the dwarf hairy rockjasmine only around the bivouac under Grintavec.29
Exactly such a flower I last saw above Celovška koča, but it was still in bud. It has characteristic leaves.30
Just as proof that Kamnik bellflowers are still blooming - exactly under the bivouac under Grintvcem.31
Just as proof that goat's beard is also here - under Cojzova koča. But a blooming one in KSA I haven't seen yet. The contribution about pipes and grasshoppers I'm still preparing.32
Gerard's wormwood.33
Flower of this wormwood.34
