Mali Golak

Description of mountain:
Mali Golak is the highest peak in the Golaki group at 1495 meters above sea level and at the same time the highest point of the entire Trnovski gozd. Interestingly, it did not receive its name because it would be the smallest among the three peaks, but because it had the smallest alpine pasture. In the past, an error occurred on maps, so instead of Mali Golak it often says Veliki Golak there.
From the summit, a wonderful view opens across almost all of western Slovenia. Triglav and a large part of the Julian Alps are exceptionally well visible, and the view also extends to the Karavanke as well as the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Below us lies Primorska, and in clear weather the horizon even embraces the entire Adriatic Sea. At the summit, surrounded by low dwarf pines, hikers have access to a summit register and a stamp. As an excellent stopover during the ascent or descent, Iztokova koča pod Golaki invites below the peak.
