Linker Fernerkogel is 3278 meter high peak with a cross in the Ötztal Alps. The peak is located 7 km north from the center of Vent and 8 km south-southeast from the center of Plangeross. The nearest mountain hut is Braunschweiger Hütte, located 1.6km north. A little further is bivouac Rheinland-Pfalz-Biwak. 1.2 km east-southeast from the summit there is glacier Tiefenbachferner, 1.3 km north-northeast from the summit there is also glacier Karlesferner. The peak is located southwest of the valley Rettenbachtal.
