Mitterschneide is 2565 meter high peak and is part of the Zillertal Alps. The peak is located 2 km west-southwest of peak Mittlere Grinbergspitze (Turm). The nearest mountain hut is Höllensteinhütte, located 2km northwest. hunting cottage Jagdhütte Wandegg is a bit further away. 5 km southwest from the summit there is glacier Federbettkees, 7 km southwest from the summit there is also glacier Gefrorene Wand Kees. West-northwest of the summit is the valley Tuxertal.
