Peilstein is 2352 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 1.5 km northeast of peak Lorenzkopf. The nearest mountain hut is Gleiwitzer Hütte, located 2km west-northwest. Bichl Alm is a bit further away. 4 km south-southwest from the summit there is glacier Walcher Kees, 5 km south-southwest from the summit there is also glacier Sandbodenkees. South-southeast of the summit is the valley Käfertal.
