Rote Säule is 2993 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 3 km east of peak Kratzenberg. The nearest mountain hut is Neue Fürther Hütte, located 3km northwest. A little further is Ofneralm. 0.5 km west-northwest from the summit there is glacier Gschlösskees, 4 km west from the summit there is also glacier Nördliches Viltragenkees. South of the summit is the valley Gschlößtal.
