From Rudno polje we headed via Krucmanovih kont along the road under Mali Selišnik and a bit further started the ascent up the forest slopes towards the passes to Debeli vrh and Veliki Selišnik and via steep slopes under the eastern slope and from the little valley to the southern slopes and climbed to the top.
Skied in the direction of the ascent mostly on crusty snow.
In the forest snow is full of twigs, needles and moss and it's slowly disappearing. More at:

On Monday my friend and I drove to Rudno polje and did a ski tour to Draški ridge. With some luck and ingenuity we skied up through the forest into the small valley between the valleys below Kačji rob and Mali Selišnik and after exiting the valley walked among the hillocks and valleys below Draški ridge. We climbed to the ridge, to Vrh Draškega roba this time due to wind and bare slope we didn't go. We skied down the ascent path.

At the starting point of the trip at Rudno polje it was windy, but already in the forest it was better. At Krucmanovih kontah a cold wind was blowing, then all the way to the upper slope of Mrežc we walked almost windless. On Mrežcah a female hiker photographed us, there were no others. Skiing from Mrežc was one of the best this year, followed by an ascent to Debeli vrh in the dance of the strong wind.
Skiing from the top again pure poetry to the forest, where there are already bare patches, but it's possible to ski to the forest road without removing the skis. At Krucmanovih kontah back into the forest and removing skis only at the car.

More people know more and I hope you will help me identify the peaks in the attached photos. Although I have hiked most of the peaks and when looking from the other side I'm no longer exactly sure about the names of the peaks. All photos are taken from the hut with the address Srednja vas no. 160.

After the last snowfall for some snowy idyll we chose the tour to Močile. From Rudno polje we glided towards Uskovnica on frozen snow. Sun rays quickly softened the snow and when we turned north and walked through pastures past numerous weekend huts to the slopes of Mesnova glava, easy walking turned into laborious climbing with crampons on skis. Nevertheless we enjoyed and climbed to Močile, from where we skied to Konjščica, climbed to the ridge and skied towards Rudno polje.

This time Debni vrh in the snow. Paths are snowy and icy. Crampon tracks were visible.

Good luck and be safe on all paths on Velika Planina in 2026.

For year end quick jump to Debni Peak. From pond to top and back met numerous hikers. Wish all HAPPY 2026 and safe paths.

On the Rogašovci municipality website there is a contact form and I suggest you inform them about the trash around the lake that needs to be removed. Without that they probably won't stir...

Yesterday was the right day to escape from foggy valleys to sunny and briefly cloudy planina. On the plateau there is quite a bit of frozen and icy snow, more than expected but unfortunately too little for skiing. Where possible, we used crampons when walking, otherwise cautious walking on slippery snow.

We drove to Ukve, climbed to the starting point for Beautiful Vršič and took the first steps with skis in our hands. Higher up we put on skis, then descended and put on skis again. We climbed to the saddle between Kok and Beautiful Vršič. Snow scarcely any—just a sample, lots of bare patches, but on the east slope under the south ridge enough to reach the top on skis and ski down from it too. Met a couple hurrying to the top, we skied to the saddle and then rodeo on crusty snow. Lower we put skis on backpacks and walked to lower pastures, then short skiing and walk to the start. Definitely too little snow and probably even less today for good skiing.

I did just a little ascent and I was already above the fog. At first it was cold, then the sun warmed me as I walked to Kamniški vrh and Planjava.

No more flurry, wait for next snow shipment. Today morning cold, but pleasant in sun. Paths dry and nicely walkable.

Today Debni Peak visitors hurried and caught some snow flurry.

Today cloudy, on Thursday nice sunny weather and used all of it for ascent on the normal path from Rudno polje to the top of Viševnik. Time and again I see how people leave traces behind and on Viševnik both little pillars are plastered with numerous stickers. Also the scribbling on the rock, picture no. 58, is completely unnecessary...
