Third time in the Dolomites this year. This time a nice circular tour. We start in the dark on the road leading to Passo Giau Ponte de Rucurto at 1700m. Plenty of parking space. Path marked 437 Rifugio Croda da Lago/G. Palmieri is nicely laid out and gradually ascends without efforts. Midway to the lake we reach a junction where we go straight to the mentioned hut. Here the path starts to ascend more steeply but not for long. Soon it levels out again and we're not far from the hut or Lake Federa 2038m. At the lake, where the hut is, exceptional views (and fantastic autumn colors of larches) on Lake Federa and Becco di Mezzodi in the background. Short stop then along path 434 to Forcella Ambrizola 2277m. From there continue on path 436 to Forcella Giau, passing Lake Baste with Pelmo in the background. Soon follows Forcella Giau 2370m. From there the path descends steeply, follows a split to Passo Giau or a bit lower to the road leading to the mentioned pass. Once on the road another good three km along the road to the car. Total 16km, 5.28h including stops and 1033m elevation gain. The loop is fantastic with top views.

We start the tour at Lucknerhaus and go on path no. 714. The path climbs steeply, first a gravel path then a nice well-worked compacted earth trail. After a good hour and a half we reach Berger torl 2651m, where the nice Glorer hutte stands. Some stay at the hut, others go to the top of Weiser Knoten on a nice ridge path. The summit itself is extremely panoramic. We return back through the valley from the other side past a small lake. From the hut we then continue on the wonderful panoramic path 713 (Johan Studel weg) towards Luckner hutte. The path is quite exposed on some parts, in between also pegs and wire rope. When we reach the junction we turn onto 712a and descend to Lucknerhutte. From here then on 702b back to the start. Beautiful circular tour that offers wonderful views.

Yes, that's how it looks. Pity, for me it's one of the most beautiful paths.

I was on 620 from Patoc to Bareto last year 19.5. Path condition through narrowest part (Galandin) was catastrophically bad. Nothing but fallen trees, very dangerous. I doubt they fixed anything. Pity, because the rest was in pretty solid condition.

Up to the last tunnel no problem. Some stones in the tunnel otherwise OK.

Yes really these paths I checked all possible. For the first time I chose this one. It's true, I learned about this tour right from your posts and some are really unbelievable bravo. From Bartolo valley (Vrtinjlogarski graben) soon after climbing area turn right to nice serpentine mulatiera no. 509, which leads to saddle Kot (Sella Canton). Here about 40 cm snow. Here turn to the far left wide path, which gently ascends to pasture Goriach (Gorjanska planina). Somewhere in the middle where path levels out turn left uphill to peak Monte Capina di Ponente (Veliki Kopinj). Beautiful winter scenery accompanies me all the way in no wind and wonderful views especially on top (1736m). Snow on top good 70 cm. Back same way. Wonderful yesterday's day was perfect for mountain visit. And four peaks above Ukve valley Starhand, Konjščica-Krošove skale (Monte Sagran), Lepi Vršič (Cima Bella) and Kok-Kuk (Monte Cocco) were right destination. Parked in Ukve valley at inn al Camoscio then continued on path past hut Nordio-Defar to pasture Dolinice then path 403 to peak Starhand (1968m). From there descended back to ridge which I fully crossed and with short ascent reached peak Konjščica-Krošove skale (1922m). From there descended on logging trail to saddle Mrzli studenec (Forcela di Fontana Fredda 1693m) then steeply through forest to third peak Lepi Vršič (1911m). From here again descend to saddle and last steep short ascent to peak Koka-Kuka (1941m). From here back to saddle and on logging trail back to valley to start of yesterday's tour. Nice winter tour with wonderful views. Snow about 15cm ridges were dry.

Not to the top of Kobariški Stol, but only to planina Božca. Just a bit different than described above. Tour start at Boka along the main road to the former border crossing Učja, where a few meters before a gravel road turns left. A bit of asphalt at the beginning. To the pasture a still quite well-maintained path winds. From Žaga to planina Božca it's over 13km. The location of this 1370m high pasture is very scenic. From here I continue to the other Kobariška side, where soon a path branches left towards Trnovo along which my today's descent went. (On the right, the road descends the slope of Stol into Breginjski kot). The descent is extremely picturesque as we see the valley low below all the time. The ridge crossing is about 3km, then the path (marked for Trnovo) descends into the forest, where at the beginning the path is not drivable, except for brave downhillers with full-suspension bikes. We carry the bike for about 10min, then we reach the path again, which is worse at first, then better and better. To Trnovo 8km descent. Then along the main road back to Boka. Wonderful tour, those who know it will agree it's one of the most scenic MTB tours with beautiful views either from the village Sedlo or the one I did. Worth a visit.

Not quite to the top, this time only to the last tunnel.

This year already second time at Zahomska Planina. In not too promising weather I set off on the tour, which in the end proved worthwhile. Start in Tarvisio on bike path to Camporosso (Žabnice), a bit before turn right into Bartolo valley (Vrtinjlogarski graben), to the end of wonderful valley to Bartolo saddle there right towards Achomitzer Alm (Zahomska Planina). Path climbs quite steeply all the way to the 1712m high Alm. Path in very good condition. Views from top quite solid considering how it looked at start. For descent I chose new variant for me on path 508, which turned out great move. Singletrack I can say is fantastic, never ridden such. About 7 km long leads to forest hut Muli then left on 509A, which descends all to Bartolo valley, where it joins gravel path through the valley. Singletrack from hut to valley first part very demanding, very steep but rideable overall. Path smooth and mostly no rocks. Second part less demanding. At end last km again bit more demanding as we hit gravel but path remains rideable. When join gravel road at end ride back to today's tour start.

Torko's tour in beautiful weather to the king of the Carnics Coglians via ferrata Weg der 26-er was a nice new experience for me on such paths. Start at Tolazzi hut, path 144 to Volaia lake, there right to path 403 to Valentin torl. A bit below saddle top we turn right onto path 427 under Coglians ridge, where mentioned ferrata starts. Entry part of ferrata somewhat difficult as steps very small or none. Continuation much easier. Wonderful views from top. Descent via path 143 to Marinelli hut then down valley (path 143) past Moraret pasture back to Tolazzi hut.

We were at bivouac Tarvisio and not Nogara as I mistakenly wrote.

First for schristina by highway past Villach to Spittal then to Lienz (Tristach where asphalted road to Dolomiten hutte branches off) is about under three hours and over 200 km. Irina, Anuk now on my cycling tours lounges more at home, as those tours would be too long for him. In between we also hop to hills a bit, like few days ago when we were at bivouac Tarvisio-Nogara from Loška Koritnica.

Yesterday to Nemške Glave from Log Pod Mangartom. To the top via hunter's path, descent via Italian path to Predil. Path in the middle section from Log hard to follow to the saddle.
