@muzl: regarding breaking laws, especially the sense of some, one could discuss - so everyone who rides over the summit breaks the law because they go through protected area with a vehicle (at least according to TNP map)... the almost fine that Čokl got for "breaking the law".... look, rules/laws must exist, I agree, but they must also make sense.
if these guys rode with motocross bikes it would be very wrong (noise, pollution,...) or if they rode this path e.g. in summer during the procession and endangered all tourists. like this they only endanger themselves and don't cause much damage to the surroundings (everything is under snow now).
accidents happen to the best and the worst - and if someone drags a bike (not exactly feather-light) through snow in mid-winter to, note, Kredarica!!! then probably not a total beginner who one day while dolling up in Ljubljana center, where in a pink Lacoste polo shirt he celebrated a "#coffee_in_center#ljubljana" moment, decided to go mid-winter to Kredarica with a damn DH bike.
dragging GRS into this maybe not appropriate, they are here to help - but I don't understand why they do it for free and not for "big bucks" as brothers south of Kolpa would say. and not just because of staff and infrastructure costs, but because they push rescuers into shit and danger too.
and we're back to the sense of Slovenian laws/rules and not three dudes with DH bikes at Kredarica.
I applaud them because they found some sports activity they like to do and which doesn't have much impact on the environment and other people - why not applaud that? again, someone who drags a DH bike to Kredarica... for him that sport is probably LAW and I assume these guys have ridden quite a few hills before coming up with this idea and thus have quite some experience. the same folks could be blabbing at home in front of screens, instead they gain experience and adventures with sports.
as for foolishness - to each his own. once I was returning to the parking in Vrata and a group of tourists watches (two even with binoculars hehe) climbers in the Wall and comments: "look crazies, why risk that". I thought "pfff... cool cool, slightly fouš, gotta go back to the Wall soon, good idea, good"

if these three pulled off the stunt as planned, this was their "best day ever" and definitely worth a beer at the end.
