Sv. Ivan - Plato Mjeseca - Na novih starih Mrgarih - Sedlo - Prekinjeno - Diviška - Lokva Diviška - Hlam - Plato Mjeseca - Sv. Ivan
Parking at the church of Sv. Ivan, lower down by the main road at the large parking lot near Baška is paid.
I really like their trail marking system, by colors depending on the direction of destination, which are nicely readable on neat panels.
Due to the desired sunrise, I branched off somewhere at Na novih starih Mrgarih from the wide marked trail and headed along a nicely visible path marked with cairns. The path becomes increasingly less noticeable, cairns disappear and before the ascent to Sedlo only smaller sheep trails are present,
which occasionally show up. I awaited the sunrise from behind Velebit located somewhere above Senj at the Prekinjeno area, where the most beautiful views opened towards Vela and Mali Luka and Prvić island. While basking in pleasant sun rays at breakfast I continued with new energy through pathless terrain with occasional help from sheep trails towards Diviška. The rocky area among grasses is locally quite sharp and jagged, caution required.
I descended along the marked trail (also marked with cairns) past Lokva Diviška and Hlam back to Plato Mjeseca towards the church of Sv. Ivan.
Heat-induced atmospheric diffusion these days prevented clarity and purity of views, which is also reflected in the photos, but it was all the more pleasant to jump into the sea afterwards

Definitely, the thought of seeing the landscape in winter time, when Velebit dresses in a snowy blanket is extremely inviting
