@saram if the dog is on the table it's a problem, but mice, rats and other animals walking on it at night is not?
It's logical not to put a sandwich on such an outdoor table if you don't wipe it first...

Otherwise our Lili, who has hiked Pohorje from SG to MB and more.

Such ducklings I meet on Piramida.

For those looking for Lowa, drive across the border to Intersport in Austria. Ours don't have half as much choice as there, and prices are similar to ours.
ribic19. 08. 2019 13:03:24
@KP you can find some Lowa in Intersport at BTC. It's really hard to find them elsewhere in SLO. They have much more choice in Austrian shops (Intersport etc.).

This toenail thing is surely because these boots are too "molded" maybe even too small.

I always buy hiking boots one size larger. On descent I usually tighten the lower part a bit more than on ascent.

Bravo bbugari1, wonderful description and I believe you had a great time on the path through Pohorje.
It still awaits me, maybe this year, maybe next. We'll see how the daughters will be motivated, especially how we'll prepare our dog for sleeping outside or in tent.
I've already walked all these parts in stages and you're right, these are exceptional and very beautiful places with a lot of history.

Maybe this addition. Surely Pohorje can be crossed in one day, a runner probably even faster. The point of a hiker is to enjoy all the views, to stop and take some pictures, to feel the landscape, forest, animals. Already every day we rush to work and back, on errands, to school to pick up the kids; on hike it's best to enjoy and be easy nasmeh

Thanks for track.

Gotta think well about it, quite hefty for two days for my girls... don't want them to eat me from anger nasmeh

Do you maybe have a GPX track of that path you hiked? Especially first part to Kope interests me, to gauge km and route, since I'll have dog and kids with...

Where did night catch you or where did you sleep and did you 2nd day end at Belviju and go with gondola to valley or walked to valley?
ribic10. 06. 2019 10:31:42
Thanks to both. We then postponed the thing for a while due to other obligations, but the info will still come in handy nasmeh

For those who were up there, how is the road to the starting point for Planina Loka. Is it normally drivable for a slightly larger caravan or will there be a problem?

@garmont, were there any serious snow patches on the way to the summit or can they be normally bypassed?
Thanks

I'm wondering how far up Velika Planina you can drive by car?
We'll be spending a few days up there and I'm interested in the option of driving as high as possible and then walking to the hut.

The pic will be ok for phone. But you need to know that it's a phone and pic quality can't be the same as on a digital camera made just for photography.
Even worse in case of using the so-called zoom. This phone has no optical zoom.

According to tests, it does quite ok photos for phone of objects that are fairly close, with distance the quality and sharpness of the pic naturally deteriorates...

@rosana
If you want to, everything is possible. I know exactly what kind of WC is at Planika or Kredarica and also what kind is at Nanos. IF there's no water, arrange a field WC and that's it. Not that people go behind the house and elsewhere and thus pollute the surroundings of the hut.
And one more thing. There's a road to Nanos along which you can drive everything the hut needs by car. So excuses that it's a mountain hut meant for shelter in bad weather and we should be happy it exists at all are a bit off.
Time has moved on and hikers deserve decent treatment; huts of all kinds (and their staff too) are there for us and not vice versa, so they will have to behave accordingly. If abroad they can ensure that huts in the high mountains (Nanos is not high mountains) are tidy and clean, then we will have to do the same here.

@slavkoa
Normally I don't comment in such cases, but this time I'll say something...

True, mountain is for enjoying nature, but if there's a hut on top, its purpose is to take care of hikers who want it. Ignorant behavior towards hikers as described by Don has no place. If they can manage on Planika or Kredarica and elsewhere so that a hiker can decently do their business, then they can on Nanos too. If not, let the mountaineering club close the hut and that's it. Shameful that there are tenants inside who find everything hard and only think about how to earn as much as possible.
And one more thing. This hut was great years ago. Even school hiking groups slept there multiple times with elementary kids. And if it worked then, they could take care of the hut and its customers today like a few years ago.

@dj12: I would drive by car to Ribnica Hut and sleep there 1 or 2 nights. From there you have in one direction a nice scenic ridge path towards Kopa, in the other direction also a very nice path towards Lovren Lakes. Food at Ribnica Hut is excellent and sleeping is well taken care of.
B option is to base yourselves at Rogla and go on excursions from there.

Of course it all depends on how much your child likes walking.

I don't know those two but on a couple of recent hikes I had this one

Lowe Alpine airzone

I'm thrilled. The back part can be adjusted by height. Then it has such a nice mesh inside because of which I sweat much less on my back. Anyway among what I saw it seems top option to me.
