Hi.

Yesterday I set off to check this peak and planned the tour up the left and down the classic.

Up on the path to Montaž there's still quite some snow, when the path branches to Špik there's practically no snow. On the top I was quite lucky the weather held, the classic path has no peculiarities.

Hi.

I headed towards Montaž yesterday but was intending the left path to Špik hudih polic, so I turned off already a bit before the ladder.

Two shorter traverses over soft snow are in the last part before the first entry into the wall. Then there is quite a lot of snow right where the left path to Špik branches off. I can't tell you much further what is happening. Hope it helps someone with the decision.

Yesterday to the top from Vrata, the sun was burning me at the start, from bivouac 4 onwards it shyly peeked. After 14 it looked like a thunderstorm was brewing, when I got to the valley it was completely clear.

Hi.
Today we went to check if there would be any view from the summit and we had quite some luck. Most of the path was accompanied by dense clouds and in the couloir not much visibility, but on the summit still excellent conditions and now I'm a bit sorry I didn't have sunscreen.

Conditions:
Suhadolnik - Kokrska Kočna (over Grdi graben)
No issues to the bivouac, but from the junction to bivouac hard to find in fog, as not marked and scree field very active due to fresh rockfall.
Further all OK until the path on scree turns left, where in fog VERY demanding orientation to the wall entry.
In the wall at times really still lots of snow, requiring focus as feel and visibility very poor.
Kokrska-Jezerska Kočna - All OK, except a couple of pegs that loosened or pulled out.
Jezerska Kočna - Dolci - Suhadolnik: All path junctions and other marks nicely marked.

Helmet is VERY recommended, as wall crumbling and really lots of falling rocks.

If someone still not sleeping after this report then a few pics nasmeh

Hi.

Since I watched KSA for some days and additionally Krn on Sunday, unfortunately only from afar, I decided today to check that area from Kal village.

Conditions really good for hiking, except strong wind on top blowing some 200m below summit. Snow on path about half way in forest but granular providing good footing. Transitioning to meadows several switches from mud back to great snow, which on top iced over from wind.

For final ascent from sign good to have crampons due to hard crust.

Great trip today.

Since conditions allowed, it was possible to go fast yet still safely zigzag past visitors; there were really incredibly many of them.

And yesterday we used the sunny day a bit before new snow falls.

Hi.
Conditions for sledding or riding with alternative means like pležuh are simply fantastic. Also possible with skis (snowblade), but there are some stones on the road.

Hi.
Today I was at the summit from Ljubelj/Zelenica and crampons are definitely recommended, I even used the ice axe because no one has gone up the path for a long time and had to break trail. At the top I talked to hikers who came from the other direction and they say microspikes are sufficient.

Hi.
The view from Lj tormented me since the sun came out and there was no other way than to go check what the conditions are like. Everything mlubej says is true. The snow is very compact and not frozen and if anyone itches to go check it out it's necessary. I recommend crampons, there were really a lot of people today and they can comment on the state. Yesterday I luckily decided for the tour to Krn via the S. Korena path. In the fourth attempt I finally caught the sun on the summit.

On the path just a little frozen snow on exposed spots and better a bit slower and with head than headlong. No snow while climbing and self-belay kit where there is snow doesn't help.

Dreznica (Silva Korena path) - Krn - Dreznica (south path)

Yesterday there was really perfect weather for a visit, you could see it because there was Slovenian occupation on the summit. As tinky says, snow can be avoided and it is really worth the visit.
