What's happening with the PZS.SI portal, specifically with the mountain huts section?
Just a few weeks ago you could read a lot of useful information about each hut, from lists of all accesses by car, bus and train with walking times, hut description and short history, list of paths to nearby peaks and list of nearby huts with walking times to them.
Now the pages are almost useless.
Is it a long-term renovation? Will it add back all the useful information we had before? Or has it simply disappeared in the name of modern minimalist redesign?

I've noticed that Aljažev dom and Poštarski dom no longer have sleeping reservations via Alpsonline, but directly via pzs.si and everything is charged immediately.

I was there last week. First day: 6h drive to parking Kesselfall (at about 1km height) then about 6h walking to Hutte (at 2800m) which actually took about 8h due to many breaks enjoying the views. The trail from the parking lot to HS Haus is beautiful with numerous streams, waterfalls, tunnels, 3 places to buy nice food and drink. At Furthermoaralm you can fill water for free.
Second day from Haus to the summit and back I spent about 7h, although pure walking is about 2h in one direction. It is simply wonderful to enjoy every now and then looking and absorbing those beauties. I spent about an hour and a half on the summit, and about 1h around the edge of the glacier. I listened to the ice melting and numerous waterfalls flowing towards the lake.
The third day was the descent to the car. Again without hurry and with many breaks and enjoyment.
Technically the whole trip is difficult only on the shorter via ferrata right after the hut towards the summit (Mapy marked it with difficulty B, and Bergfex the other hardest parts of the trail with T4). Besides that, a lot of walking on narrow, exposed trails where you need to be maximally careful, but with a sure step you pass without problems in both directions.
There are big altitude differences to cover but for experienced in Julian Alps and Carnic Alps, this will not be a problem. There were even families with children. On the summit there was also a 10 year old.
I had mild symptoms of altitude sickness above 3400m. Slight dizziness, as if I had drunk a beer, nothing serious. Before this trip my highest altitude was 2 peaks at 3250m where I had no problems.
On the HS Haus website they regularly write the trail condition towards the summit i.e. from when there is no snow and no winter equipment needed. The hut is excellent. Has drinking water from the glacier. Food is exclusively vegetarian
Accommodation can be reserved online, and if everything is taken send email (as I did) or call, because often some people cancel the day before (as it was both days when I slept up there). They also accept SLO and HR membership card for discount

I didn't see too much water. There is some down at the lower station of the cable car for Pogačnikov dom. Further up it's very scarce. Water flows higher up before Spodnje Kriško jezero along the trail at one place on the right side into the bed at about 1875m. And on LocusMaps and on Berfex it is marked as drinking water.
In Pogačnikov dom there is drinking water from the lake.

For Ankogel I reserved online 1 day before. Many huts in Austria have online reservations, but for 1 or 2 there is always a place. Similar to Slovenia, some beds cannot be reserved because they must be free for paragliders. When I slept there, the neighboring bed was free but online it was all full.

The hut keeper told me that he recommends calling if everything is booked online and then check if there is any place free.

Otherwise you can take the cable car all the way to the hut. Return ticket 39e. But I'm not interested in something like that. I came to walk on the trails and not just get to the top as soon as possible.

I was on Ankogel on 24-25.7.2026. My second 3000m peak in life, after Petzeck three weeks ago. The latter is a bit easier, but both are technically quite easy. Just a lot of altitude.
Parked down by the cable car, slept in Hannoverhaus, next morning to the summit and 2km descent to the car. Wonderful. Recommend.

Met Slovenians, Croats and one mountaineer who went barefoot to the top see the photos. In my opinion that's crazy and pointless. Both his feet were bloody

Why are the Austrian Alps completely green almost up to 3km, while in Slovenia already at some 2200m plants become rarer?

Greetings from a lesser-known peak, Planja 2453m Julian Alps. A couple of Slovenians already asked me "Do you mean Planjava?" (2392m KS Alps), when I told them I had been on Planja.
Solo in the mountains, wonderful. Much easier than the neighboring Razor which I was on a bit earlier. Recommended.

Everyone complains about the crowds in the hills but I go solo on the wonderful Razor (start in Zadnjica). Still need to go to Planja and sleep in Pogačnik's.
And Vršič is chaos. Crowds, roadworks, tourists, bikes, campers. When will the tunnel Kranjska Gora - Trenta be built?

Has anyone gone these days via Tominšek's, Over Prag or Kot? Are they snow-free? Can one go without winter equipment to Kredarica? Thanks for the info

If the info is useful to someone, I went today from Golica to Kepa and to Bertahütte where I sleep. The hut is open every day from today.

From Kepa to the hut there are a few smaller snow patches that can be passed without problems without crampons. Probably those shorter snowy parts will melt quickly. The cables and pegs on the route are in excellent condition. Beautiful route, peaks, views

No snow over Kalvarija. On the trail to the summit there's snow at the start, shortly before the secured part begins.
Herman, the keeper, said 50 of us are sleeping in the hut, ideal unlike the summer crowds.

I just passed through Kurica. There's a bit of snow on the trail so I went along the rock on the right.

Now further towards Kredarica. It seems there's snow here and there.

Konjsko sedlo is snow-free. The trail towards Planika seems too.
