Quoting today's SPIN and wondering why this is necessary:

"Accidents in the mountains

16.05.19 23:40

KAMNIK

At 23.40 a hiker got stuck at Cojzova hut on Kokrško sedlo, municipality of Kamnik, and due to the icy path didn't dare descend to the valley. Rescuers of GRS Kamnik were activated, who helped him safely reach the valley to Kamniška Bistrica.

I'm interested in what is with this trail, which is drawn on the PZS map as an easy marked trail. Is it really so, because the matter doesn't look quite like that. Namely, last week, when we wanted to go on this trail, we changed our minds at Lanež, when we looked where the arrow and HONIKOVA inscription point. Does anyone know what is with this trail, is it actually marked, passable? Because in the trail book Kamniško-Savinjske Alpe it's not listed at all.

And another problem, on the same map there is no marked trail drawn from junction at Lanež straight down the hill, which then at the foot turns right towards south, probably to the hut at Loki? Markings look older, but the trail is not drawn on the map...

Aha of course then uphill at least from the meadow onwards it's possible, and I think also already from Križan on the left forest road...

Better not. On Sunday the road was mostly still thinly snow-covered, but gravel was visible in places or rough ice was exposed and it would unnecessarily damage skins and skis. This week probably made it even worse. It's not possible to drive by car beyond Ciganija up to the weekend; only individual deep holes in individual ice sheets have formed. And even at Križan there were "normal" cars parked...

Really yesterday there was proper nice winter snowy weather and enough snow that it went smoothly with touring skis the whole way from Ciganija.

Just really miss the hut warmth then at the top... but in new year sometime it will be better.

I'm interested if anyone knows whether it's possible to get up with touring skis from Ciganija or still too little snow?

I don't agree that if you miss preschool years you've missed all... Anyway it's good that the child (like many other things) is introduced to nature, hills, mountains then and builds development on it.

Hats off to this family again and obviously controlled to avoid injuries they lead things and kids really enjoy. But personally in my family I don't practice this because day has 24h and week 7 days. Still I notice my kids at their age have plenty of mountains pulling them while gaining breadth in other life areas too.

In short I think the bar for kids not necessary so high nor obligatory to overdo in preschool.

Hats off!
MarkoS14. 09. 2020 15:35:32
Ouch... At what time was that?
MarkoS14. 09. 2020 12:49:36
Don't doubt it's great then and sometimes really envy your feats. But sadly not capable for such high mountains in winter, so settle for what I can. nasmeh

I'm interested if this Saturday already less crowd than previous and apparently had to wait long on Kredarica-Summit-Kredarica path?
MarkoS20. 08. 2020 13:06:48
No point in threshing empty straw.
MarkoS20. 08. 2020 07:51:37
I think many of you critics haven't been to the summit lately. Shit upon shit literally and it stank like in a barn. Already to prevent health problems something had to be done, even if you went eating somewhere below the summit.

But the fact that sheep graze on the alpine pasture is perfectly fine and I totally disagree with LunatixZ's opinion that sheep don't belong on pastures or should even be driven off them?! Sheep and locals were on the pastures before we mountaineers showed up...
MarkoS19. 08. 2020 16:38:14
The summit was shat on like hell and if we put poles, crosses, other markers and summit logbooks on mountain tops for us people, I don't know why so much moralizing about one galvanized fence below the summit.

We should thank everyone who made the effort to install this fence. I believe they are experienced enough and studied the issue beforehand.

Personally the execution doesn't quite appeal to me, as for my taste it sticks too high into the air - a sheep half that height wouldn't jump it from below in my opinion. And it's even more prominent and taller looking because of those "floating in the air" wooden treads - I assume because there's a wooden cross on top too. Only such a slightly lower galvanized fence would blend better with the surroundings and I think still sufficiently functional.

Nice and right that one writes about the work of many, due to whom the step is safer and nicer. Thanks!

I don't agree. It doesn't remind me of a tavern, if anything I'd say more like a dog playground. nasmeh Without the cross of course. Pallets, whose wood is usually durable, are just inventively used in the given conditions and at least there's something to lean your butt on and rest. Isn't that the point?

Anyway this kind of "outdoor tavern gear" in the hills is based on simplicity and durability. Better this than nothing, it won't be permanent anyway.

There used to be lots of visitors at Okrešelj too, but that's how it is. And it's right that in these times they still come and something gets earned, not just in the valley. If you want a beautiful quiet cirque, it's still waiting 200m ahead.

Very sad event.

I hope this time the hut insurance was better sorted.

I sincerely hope those dealing with the Korošica rebuild project and now Okrešelj too will stop dreaming of astronomical costs for new builds, but soon make something more economically viable and durable. Better a sparrow in the hand than a pigeon on the roof!

Now the state and municipalities should see the importance of these facilities for citizens and locals and contribute more to the rebuild (there are no two very important huts in the Savinja Alps).
