Like all of you, I like to go to the mountains. I have one question: I'm preparing to buy a camera and now on the market there are lots of brands and models, in short oooogromno offer and very hard choice.
So I ask you for advice what you use.

Thanks and mountain greetings

Stane Kosec Peak-Rašica is very popular especially on weekends when the weather is nice, both hikers and cyclists. There is just a few posts on this forum.

Aja, I recommend regular training for self-arrest with ice axe, so it gets into your "blood". Of course on suitable terrain where you can stop safely.

It is recommended to go to some COURSE ON MOVEMENT IN WINTER CONDITIONS which are organized by mountaineering societies, there they will learn everything about equipment, movement, have demo with use of crampons, ice axe, helmet... where then they can visit mountains through the society.

As medo said they taught us and I also teach other trainees only 12 point crampons combination with ice axe !!!! Other crampons can be good only for Smarna Gora, Rašica, Krim,....

Otherwise you can get to Triglav even in swimsuits and sandals but how many times is a big question mark...

I wouldn't recommend these crampons to you for mid-mountains let alone high mountains. Crampons must have 12 points.
Anyway today shops sell all sorts of gear just to sell and they don't know how to advise (except a few recognized shops with alpinist gear, but I wouldn't advertise)

Really a pity that they don't renovate this path and secure it again.

Yesterday I did this circular tour. True, cloudy - foggy weather. On ridges and via ferratas caution is needed. Quite well protected. Just very wet terrain from night rain.

Why?

There are several answers. Due to the icy slope. With improper walking (legs apart) you can catch one crampon on the other. The most delicate is walking with crampons in wet snow when snowballs form under crampons creating so-called snowball, which we knock off with an ice axe strike on crampons.

Yesterday there was also wonderful sunny weather. A completely different world from the foggy valley. Very nice pictures. I would kindly ask those posting pics to tell what cameras you have or use, I plan to change soon but it's a hard decision with so much on offer.

Thanks!

All the best, happy 2009 and as much nice weather and nice hikes in the coming year.
