We were up there last weekend and there were only some small snow patches in the upper scree part, no need for winter gear. Now it's surely gone too. Via Lipnica it's completely dry.

JC: very well documented and excellent photos! Congratulations from my side too!

Road to Valvazor hut is normally drivable - no snow.

Since I bought two pairs of new boots last year, I recommend NEPAL EXTREME WOMAN or even better NEPAL EVO GTX (with membrane). I have the latter and I'm very satisfied with them. As a summer boot I use La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX, but they didn't perform well in winter conditions - poor insulation.... If you're going to high mountains in winter, definitely buy a winter boot that fits automatic crampons or semi-automatic if you want. Good luck with the purchase.nasmeh

LG: judging by the picture, this doesn't look very "trustworthy" and reliable. In your place I'd get a proper winter boot with notches on front and back and automatic crampons, because they grip much better or fix well to the boot. This especially holds if you plan more demanding winter ascents.

Marky, hi.

With me it's like this (in winter conditions):
1. layer: sports base layer (short or long sleeve)
2. layer: thin thermal fleece or breathable t-shirt
3. layer: thicker thermal fleece (but it has to be really cold. Mostly it stays in the backpack or I put it on at the top)
4. layer: windbreaker

It's always smart to have an extra piece in the backpack and then adapt to the temperatures (undress or dress as needed). best regards.

I'm going tomorrow to Škrlatica from Vrata. If anyone else goes, let them send me a PM.

Try Mrzla Gora. For me personally this path was much more "tense" than the ones you mentioned and already did. Good luck! :-)

Last weekend 10.7. I drove with my car, which has quite low ground clearance, without problem to the cargo cableway. The upper part is indeed a bit "loosened", but not so much that it couldn't be driven over without problems.

On the path to Jezersko Kočno?

We also went on this nice path last Sunday and regarding the "preduh", there's really not much space. I was surprised because I thought it was wider overall, but it's not. But it's interesting! velik nasmeh

Hard to decide, but nevertheless (based on nice views and path interest) these stayed in my best memory this year:
-Prisojnik (via ridge)
-Mala Mojstrovka (via Hanzova)
-Begunjščica (via Zelenica and return via Preval).

Interesting topic. From Vrhnika and given I'm fully employed (job, family), I manage ca. 30x to mountains per year. I like all, demanding as well as easy hikes. For now more in summer, as in winter I prefer skiing, but next year plan to start winter hikes too. Most often to KSA and Julian Alps, and of course nearest Planina above Vrhnika, great for fitness.
Have fun!

Surely in the hut you can also order something else (meatless), e.g. jota or ričet without meat... Anyway I hope I manage to come too, so we can get to know each other. nasmeh

E.g.:
- Hut at Planina pri Jezeru, you can start at Planina Blato;
- Slemenova Špica (Sleme), start at Vršič (no hut at Sleme actually, but you have them at Vršič).
